Beautiful thatched house, classified a historic monument, which was extended and completely renovated in 2008/9. This is a spacious, light and airy holiday home overlooking Fishoek Bay, one of the safest and warmest bathing beaches on the Cape peninsula. Supermarkets and all the usual amenities are also on hand within 10 mins walk or 2 mins drive in Fishoek town centre. Cape Town Waterfront, The Winelands and Cape Point are all within 40 mins drive and there are plenty of great restaurants and bars to suit all budgets within 10 mins drive at Kalk Bay and Simonstown. There are also top class golf courses nearby at Clovelly and Westlake, and numerous others within 40-60 minutes drive. In short this is a great base from which to explore the many activities that the Cape region has to offer. Pets are not permitted and as the house is approached from the road up relatively steep stairs, it's not really suitable for toddlers and buggies. Daily maid service is available at extra cost.

Notes on accommodation
Bedroom 1 is very large (it was originally 2 rooms) and has a small double sofa bed at one end which can be used for small children or babies - in addition to the king size bed.

Accessibility
Not suitable for wheel-chair users or toddlers.

Outside
Private internal decked patio. Outside covered terrace (stoep) with table and chairs - perfect for sun downers - plus open decked terrace with views to the beach. Weber BBQ. Outside shower. Single garage with automatic door.

Coast/Beach
Fishoek beach, which is approx 1km long, gently shelving & safe for kids, (lifeguards are on duty) is 5 minutes walk away across the road immediately in front of the property. The sea is generally calm, though the waves near the beach are big enough for some good boogie-boarding. Kayaks can be rented by the hour or day from 2 shops near the beach.

Golf
Clovelly GC 10 mins drive. Westlake GC 15 mins drive. Simonstown GC (9 holes) 10 mins drive. Numerous other top quality golf courses within 30 mins drive in the Cape Town metropolitan area, plus the golf courses of the Winelands within 45-60 mins.

Special interest holidays
Fishoek bay is a renowned spot for whale-watching. The southern right whales come into the bay to calve from September to November. Simonstown is 10 minutes drive away, with its historic naval dockyard and marina. Cage diving trips to see Great White sharks can be arranged from here. Literally hundreds of wine farms at Paarl and Stellenbosch - many with excellent restaurants attached - are an easy 40-60 minute drive. Stunning Boulders Beach with its penguin colony is a 10 minute drive away. The cricket and rugby stadiums at Newlands are approximately 30 mins drive away, as are the world-renowned Kirstenbosch botanical gardens.

Travel
Cape Town airport is approximately 40 mins away - depending on traffic. Car hire is recommended to make the most of the area, as public transport is limited. The house has a single garage with remote controlled automatic door.

Further details
The property is fully alarmed with immediate call-out from Chubb armed response in the unlikely event of intrusion. The property itself is very secure. Minimum booking during the high season is 1 week & during the low season 5 days.

We use a lettings agent in Cape Town to manage the bookings schedule, release of keys, cleaning, etc.
