It is about five hours easy driving from Cape Town and an hour and a half from the nearest domestic airport, George. Tumbleweeds is a delightful single storey property situated in a quiet residential area of Plettenberg Bay.

Towels and bed linen are included and changed every week. I strongly recommend that you ask the agent to arrange a maid for as many days as you like. Very reasonable, she will start early, stay as long as you want. |

Notes on accommodation
This is a fantastic home for children as we are so near the amazing lagoon with safe swimming and wonderful area to relax and play. There are a variety of reading books in the cupboards of the dresser. Please leave in the house for others to enjoy. Use the candles, but if they burn down completely could you replace please?
Accessibility
This accommodation is all on one single storey with one very small 4 inch step through the front door. A wheelchair would be able to make full use of the garden and house.
Outside
Outside garden room with shaded area and an eight seater round wood table with chairs. A large stone built braai or BBQ in the garden area with brick patio area. Garden - a beautiful well shaded garden with some nice sunny spots to relax. There should be herbs around the braai so use them in your cooking. Fruit trees - help yourselves to fruit if there is any. There might be bananas. Cut a stalk down when you get there and hang them up. I put them on the hook in the arched kitchen window. They take about a week to ripen. The guavas are on the tree at the back. Not really sure what to do with them but have a taste anyway. The lemon tree is small so probably won't have fruit, but the leaves smell wonderful. Up keep - the gardeners come once a fortnight. They let them selves in and just get on with it. There's an automatic watering system, which comes on once a week.
Golf
World class golf courses are in abundance in this part of the world all within easy reach of Tumbleweeds. Golf courses nearby cater for visitors. The 18 hole Country Club course is within 5 kilometres. Goose Valley Golf Course is within 4 kilometres.
Special interest holidays
The clean sandy beach - Blue Flag status - is within 2 minutes walking distance. It is 4 kilometres long and popular for walking, sunbathing and surfing. Robberg Peninsula is a nature reserve within 20 minutes walk. It has clifftop and coastal walks with good sites for watching dolphins and seals which are present all year round. Whales arrive in July and are usually present until September. Sea birds are present all year.
Tourism and birding guides may be engaged by prior arrangement with the owner. Whale and dolphin watching boat trips are available daily throughout the year but the peak season for whales begins in July and lasts about 4 months. World Cup football events will take place in Port Elizabeth and other cities.

About the owner
I live in rural England with my wife, 2 teenage children and our 2 dogs. Both working but spend most of our holidays in South Africa, where we have made many friends and have really fallen in love with the country. We purchased tumbleweeds by the lagoon in 1996.
We love Plettenberg Bay as it is world - renowned holiday destination which somehow still manages to remain a casual and friendly seaside town. The beautiful landscape and moderate climate combine to offer you activities such as surfing, swimming, scuba diving, walking, cycling, boating, horse riding, fishing and golf.
Guests have direct access to the beautiful river and lagoon sandy beech, and the sea shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We had a holiday with my parents and children in 2002 and simply loved this magnificent country and great people.
The next year we went with my wife's parents. Whilst sitting by the lagoon one of the locals overheard me say 'This is like heaven. I just cant think of anywhere better.' He agreed!
We went to an estate agent to view of some properties. Our main criteria was to be close to the lagoon.
Unique benefits of the property
Tumbleweeds is ideally located within easy distance of the shops, restaurants and the beach.The fabulous lagoon is 200m from the house and the roads are quiet so walking there is safe.The lagoon is a nature reserve and completely unspoilt. It is sheltered from the Indian Ocean and is safe for swimming and exploring.The beach is clean and only crowded when there are 3 families on it! Other beaches that are on the open sea are easy to get to and are great for surfing and spotting whales!The garden is pretty and fragrant with fruit trees and herbs. It is very secluded, so you can sunbathe in private. The patio at the front has a large table and chairs for 10 and a braai for outdoor eating.The Market Square mall is within walking distance from the house and has almost everything you need.
