Accessibility
Not suitable for people with mobility problems. However, we pride ourselves on personal, individual service and all of our clients are different with different needs. We will accommodate wherever possible. So, if in doubt please call us to discuss your requirements.
Outside
Our pretty garden includes outdoor wooden sunbeds as well as outside patio furniture. Good sized totally private Swimming pool. Have a relaxing read in our gazebo or a chilled glass of wine under the stars in our garden hot tub. We have a barbeque for your enjoyment and outdoor dining. Outside terrace. A gate from our garden leads you right onto the lakeside. Walk outside the garden gate and stroll around the lake for those sunset and sunrise walks! The front of the house is our private parking area.
Coast/Beach
The beaches in our immediate area are Long Beach and Noordhoek. Noordhoek is a fifteen minute drive or you can walk to it from Long Beach. We offer a free shuttle bus service to the local beaches and shops. The coastline is glorious and the famous Chapman's Peak drive is easily accessible. Enjoy the Kommetjie lighthouse and the beautiful coastal scenery of our area. A 25 minute drive will take you to Camps Bay. All the attractions of the Cape are at hand, and include Cape Point.
Golf
Westlake 18 hole golf course is within a 20 minute drive. Various other golf courses in the vicinity. We would be delighted to book for you in advance.
Special interest holidays
"Serenity on the Lake" provides various special interest weekend breaks and holidays. Photography for all levels, bird watching, painting and yoga/spiritual breaks. Would you like to get married at Serenity? Please enquire about our special wedding packages, including all legal documentation that is required, choice of wedding location, either in our gardens, on the terrace, in our gazebo, or on the beach. We will tailor make your wedding to suit your individual needs. We offer excellent rates if you are participating in the world famous Argus Cycle race in Capetown in March 2009. Please book early. "Villa Serenity" is also bookable as a guest house, offering you rates should you require just nightly stays. Very popular with the business traveller and holiday makers. Total exclusivity is available of our house also on a bed and breakfast basis for nightly or weekly rates.
Travel
Cape Town is the nearest airport, 40 minute drive. Car hire is recommended for the local area, alternatively make use of our shuttle bus service to and from the airport. There are direct flights all year with South African Airways, alternatively British Airways and Virgin Atlantic offer varied summer and winter schedules. There are also charter flights from Gatwick. Please email us for costs and availability. If you are touring the Garden Route you may fly into Capetown and out of PE.
Distances
Kommetjie is our nearest village, a few minutes drive away. Cape Town, with its majestic Table Mountain is a 45 minute drive. We can pre-book any tours for you. Hermanus takes one and a half hours and is most famous for its whale watching. July-December. View by boat or land. Gansbaai is the place for White Shark cage diving, also a couple of hours drive. For wine lovers Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Constantia can all be visited in one day. Shop till you drop, various shopping malls in our area.
Further details
Kommetjie is a small village and enjoys world class surfing at our long beach. We have a school, a handful of restaurants offering excellent seafood, steaks and pizzas. Local activities include tennis, surfing, Horse riding and cycling is also popular. Imhoff's farm is very close by, local garden centres and good shopping malls to suit all tastes. Sailing is bookable from the Cape Town Waterfront, evening harbour cruises, helicopter rides. Wine tours and wine tasting, whale watching and shark diving. Bird and wildlife sanctuaries are all close by. Cape Town tour bus offers an insight into this very cosmopolitan city, crossing an interesting section of cultures and history. Robben Island is excellent for a day tour. Visit the penguins at nearby Simonstown, a 20 minute drive from Kommetjie. Hout bay, Fishhoek and Simonstown are excellent for fresh fish, see the local fisherman bringing in their catch, if you can get up that early! Kalk bay is very trendy with lots of art and antique shops.
Trendy Camps Bay is a 25 minute drive close to the Twelve Apostles. Cape Point and Chapmans Peak (the scenic drive to the Twelve Apostles) are on our doorstep as are the Winelands, featuring the popular towns of Stellenbosch and Francshoek.
Whale watching, otters, Walking with the Baboons , Surfing, deep sea fishing, township tours, golf, cycling, kitesurfing... All to be had here in Kommetjie.
Booking notes
A non refundable deposit of 50% is due at time of booking. Balance 6 weeks prior to departure. We accept cheques and all major credit, debit cards, except Diners and Amex. There is a 2% charge for credit card payments. We also accept Euros and South African Rand.
