Waterfall View provides the ideal retreat for relaxing and watching the ever changing vistas and is a super base for touring this mystical and historic island. Take a visit to Dunvegan Castle (the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland and seat of the Clan MacLeod) and a boat trip to see the seals basking on the rocks in Loch Dunvegan. The Glendale Toy Museum - a fascinating private collection of toys, is a favourite place to browse for children and adults alike.
Boat trips include a sea trip from Portree to see the varied sea and bird life including the sea eagles, glass-bottomed boat trips and a ferry trip to the Outer Isles of Lewis, Harris and Uist. No visit to the Isle of Skye is complete without a trip on the Bella Jane from Elgol to Scotland's most isolated Loch Coruisk. The island boasts some wonderful restaurants, the world famous ‘Three Chimneys’ has held 3 red rosettes for 9 years and The Kinloch Lodge Hotel has been awarded Skye's first Michelin star.

Special interest holidays
Skye is the most important centre for Gaelic culture outside of the Western Isles, and almost half the population speak Gaelic fluently; the Gaelic College on Sleat (Skye's most southern tip) is the most important in Scotland. For a sample of the local culture, visitors to the island during mid July can experience the two-week long Skye and Lochalsh Festival - the Feis an Eilean. One of the most popular sights on Skye is the Cuillin ridge, made up of jagged snow-topped peaks, which can be seen from miles around, and are suitable for experienced walkers. The other main attraction on the island is the unusual rock formations of the Trotternish Peninsula, where the pillars and pinnacles are at their most dramatic in the Quiraing above Staffin Bay, on the east coast. Whilst on the island, the capital Portree is worth a visit, with its picturesque fishing harbour encircled with restaurants, and a mile or so out of town, visitors can also experience the Aros Centre.

Guest comments
We had a fantastic week at Waterfall View in July. The house is bright, clean and comfortable and the location is amazing and well worth the drive along single track roads. The weather was beautiful and the sunsets from the porch where outstanding. The walk to Glendale was lovely and the lunch at the village tea room was delicious. We had a trip to Uist and Harris from Uig which I’d highly recommend. We visit Skye often and never tire of eating out. The Cafe in Portree is excellent, the Portree House Hotel does brilliant Pizza’s, you can’t miss afternoon tea at Columba 1400 in Staffin, or a bar supper at the Broadford Hotel. July 2011.
Ideally situated for leaving the car once you get there. There are ample walks/climbs all around the area. The sunsets are outstanding and can be seen from the cottage. April 2011
'Perfect setting and wonderful holiday home. Quite easily our best holiday in Scotland yet. Will certainly try to return. Thanks.' March 2007
Owner profile
About the owner
Although we do not live in Scotland, we have travelled to the Isle of Skye for many holidays. We have thoroughly enjoyed Skye, so we decided to build a home there.
Year purchased: 2006
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We built our home in Glendale because we love the location. The scenery is stunning with views across Loch Pooltiel towards the Western Isles. There are many pleasant walks nearby including a fantastic walk out to Neist Point lighthouse where one can often see whales. There are many interesting days out from the cottage including Dunvegan castle - just 10 miles away.
Unique benefits of the property
The cottage is in a peaceful location set into the hill taking full advantage of the views. From the conservatory one can watch the ever changing vistas. The beach is approximately 10 minutes away. A short drive away is the famous 'Three Chimneys' restaurant.
