Fodderty Lodge is the ideal destination for a quiet self-catering holiday in the Highlands. Halfway between Strathpeffer and Dingwall, it is perfectly placed for exploring the whole of the North of Scotland: Ullapool and the West Coast can be reached in under an hour, driving on some of the most beautiful and empty roads in Scotland; Inverness is only 20 minutes away; Glen Affric and Loch Ness will take just over half an hour. Our 3 well-equipped cottages are geared to reflect the needs of non-smoking families, couples and singles. They are furnished to a high standard and all bed linen (100% cotton) is included. They each provide the perfect haven to relax in at the end of a day’s adventures in the Highlands. The surrounding area has much to recommend it. The bird watcher and nature lover will be thrilled with daily sightings of red kites. The Ross-shire Pathway Network passes the front gate so walkers are in their element too! Sorry no pets are allowed. Strictly no smoking.

Notes on accommodation
Fodderty Lodge accommodation is adaptable for one, two or three generations. We operate a very strict no smoking, and no guest pet policy throughout the cottages and grounds. We have our own two dogs: a 5 year old yellow Labrador boy and a 5 year old West Highland White girl. They are very friendly, but are never allowed in the cottages. Their mission is to chase but never catch the many rabbits that have made Fodderty Lodge their home!

Because the property dates form 1730, it has unfortunately been impossible to adapt it for wheelchair use.

Fodderty Lodge cottages each have their own garden areas, but guests are always welcome to walk around the entire grounds and enjoy the varied wildlife contained therein.

We are just over an hour's drive from the main ski centre at Aviemore.

About the owner
Mervyn and I returned to the Highlands after living overseas for most of our married life. Our three daughters are all grown up now but have always felt that the North of Scotland was 'home' and return often. We bought Fodderty Lodge in 2001 and our roots went deep and spread wide very quickly! It is in the middle of a wonderfully friendly area and even we were pleasantly surprised to discover just how accessible so many places of interest are. You can go North, South, East and West and will find exciting things to do in every direction. We have holidayed ourselves in many self-catering cottages, and have a very definite idea of what makes a good holiday base, and what makes a Bad one! We hope that we make everyone who visits feel welcome in our special part of the world.
Year purchased: 2001
Why the owner chose a home in this location
Fodderty Lodge enjoys a rural location, but is still only 20 minutes from the small city of Inverness (the capital of the Highlands). There are theatres, restaurants, cinemas, swimming pools etc within easy reach. Dingwall, with shops and supermarkets, is only a couple of miles away as is the Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer. There are many walks around and golfing and fishing are closeby. It is nature lover's paradise.
Unique benefits of the property
Maire welcomes you personally and introduces you to your accommodation. She is on site should you require help or advice about places to visit whilst staying at Fodderty Lodge and has many local tips and real insider knowledge. There is a drawer full of tourist information, with suggested itineraries for you to get the most out of your days, but she will also leave you alone to discover places for yourself if that is your wish! The cottages have many 'extra' touches, books, DVDs, games, magazines, and there are even folding picnic chairs for you to use from your car during your stay. The Lees want you to leave at the end of your holiday with a positive feeling about Scotland, the Highlands and Fodderty Lodge.
