Changeover day
Saturday is changeover day. We request that you vacate by 10am to allow arrivals at 2pm.

Accommodation
Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with twin beds.
Bedroom 2 with twin beds.
Bedroom 3 with adult sized bunk beds.
Bathrooms: Bathroom with shower, basin, toilet and heated towel rail.
Kitchen: Fully equipped kitchen with range cooker, fridge, freezer and microwave.
Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer in enclosed cupboard in bedroom 3.
Living Rooms: Living room/diner with sofa and armchairs. Open fire (coal is available upon request). Television and DVD player.
Other: The cottage is situated in an enclosed grassed garden with off road parking and is safe for children.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Linen and towels are provided and changed weekly. Daily cleaning can be arranged through the Housekeeper for an additional fee.

Notes on accommodation
The cottage has an immersion heater for hot water and oil filled radiators in each room for heating.

Coast/Beach
100 yards from the cottage is the Kyle of Durness which is tidal with wonderful sandy stretches at low tide. A mile takes you to the beautiful beaches at Balnakeil of which the sand dunes are an outstanding feature. Within a further two miles you will find other wonderful deserted beaches.

Golf
Durness golf club: The most North Westerly Course on mainland Britain. This challenging 9 hole course is open to visitors all year round seven days a week from dawn till dusk. Restrictions are only in force on open days and on Sunday mornings when local competitions are under way. Visitors are asked to check with the secretary but the club will endeavour to make it possible for all visitors to have a game on the course. Visitor Fees £15 per day ( £50 per week). Jnrs.- Half price. Evening round after 5pm £10.

Nearest airport Inverness 2.5 hour drive. Nearest railway station Lairg 1.5 hr drive. Edinburgh 5.5 hour drive. Car hire available at airports.

Distances
Durness Village 1 mile with supermarket, cash point, fuel, sea food restaurants and public houses, visitor centre, Smoo Cave, Balnakeil Craft Village and golf course. Kinlochbervie fishing village 10 miles. Sandwood Bay 12 miles. Cape Wrath Lighthouse - regular ferry crossings just 250 yards from the cottage followed by a 12 mile minibus ride across the uninhabited Parph.

Further details
The area is renowned for its fishing, with three famous limestone lochs, one of which is directly behind the cottage. The River Dhionard feeds into the Kyle where you can see seals and otters. Salmon and Trout Fishing permits can be arranged through Martin MacKay on 01971 511255 The area is excellent for bird watching, with Golden Eagle, Osprey, Puffin, Peregrine and Waders and many more. Local shops and restaurants - Durness and Kinlochbervie. Cape Wrath Lighhouse. Smoo Cave. Balnakeil and Sandwood bay. Wonderful landscape with hills and mountains.

Booking notes
Please contact by phone or email regarding availability and reservations. A 30% non-returnable initial fee is payable upon booking. The balance of the rental and a payment of £50 per week fuel/damages deposit is due no later than 30 days before commencement of holiday. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday.
