Bedrooms: Rooms are twins with two single beds.
Bedroom 1 - Looking out south east down Strath Dionard.
Bedrooms 2 & 3*- Looking north east towards Cranstackie.
Bedrooms 4 & 5 Looking to the woods at the rear.
Bedroom 3 is small.
The Flat has one twin bedroom.
Bathrooms: In the Lodge there are two bathrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs) with baths only and one shower room with power-shower. There is plenty of (very) hot water. There are four loos altogether with an additional loo and bath with shower in the flat.
Kitchen: A very well equipped kitchen (new in 2010) with large gas rings, double oven, dish-washer and sink.
The kitchenette in the Flat has oven with electric rings, sink and fridge.
Utility Room: This is next to the kitchen and has a large fridge, small fridge freezer (there are larger ones in a separate room outside) and an extra sink and washing machine. Tumble drier is in a small shed outside the back door.
Living Rooms: Large, comfortable, beautifully decorated and with great lighting the drawing room has a warm open fire and soft chairs. However, it is the view from the huge bay windows, which take up one entire wall, that is the main feature with very dramatic views.
Other: The dining room will seat 12 and again has lovely views out over the estate. With double hot plate and a hatch into the kitchen it is an easy and elegant place to entertain. There is a boot room and (vitally) a drying room for those wetter days.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
All towels and bed linen are provided - and we also provide soap, washing powder and loo rolls - the essentials! Changeover day is on Sundays and the property is completely cleaned every week.

Notes on accommodation

Accessibility
With great regret, this building is not suitable for those requiring wheelchair access.

Outside
During your time at Gualin you are free to roam over the entire estate where there are dramatic walks and a track that takes you to Loch Dionard (just over six miles away). In the spring, trout fishing is possible (talk to us in advance) and there area boasts some dramatic coastal walks as well.

Coast/Beach
The beach at Balnakiel is around 10 miles away and is pristine and beautiful. Sandwood Bay, a four mile walk with no vehicular access is one of the most beautiful in the UK. Local attractions in late spring include Smoo Cave and the Cape Wrath lighthouse (reached by ferry).

Golf
Durness Golf Course, the most northerly on the British mainland is a dramatic and beautiful 9 hole challenge. The course is really only available, however, after Easter when the sheep are taken off.

Special interest holidays
This is a stunning location for hikers and bird watchers.

Travel
Nearest Airport is Inverness. Nearest main line station with car hire available is Inverness (though a train runs to Lairg if you're being picked up). This is a remote property - one of the most remote in the UK. On leaving Inverness you still have another 105 miles to go!

Distances
Durness 10 miles (Golf course, fuel and small supermarket). Kinlochbervie 6 miles.

Booking notes
Booking is via e-mail to Peter@ancient.co.uk. On booking, a payment (by cheque or bank transfer) for 30% will be required with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival.
