Bow Cottage is an ideal base for touring the Scottish Borders, hillwalking, sightseeing, golfing and is also only an hours drive from Scotlands Capital the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

About the owner
My Partner James and myself run Balgownie House b&b in the nearby village of Newtown St Boswells, my partner works full time so we are kept very busy running the b&b and our 2 holiday cottages. One of our holiday cottages Holmbank is adjoining our bed and breakfast at Newtown St Boswells and our other holiday cottage Bow Cottage is located in Melrose only 2 and a half miles from us. We are always near at hand if any of our guests need any assistance or any problems arise during their stay.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We are both from the Scottish Borders and love the area and are very proud of it and our heritage, it has so much natural beauty with the rolling hills and the wonderful River Tweed meandering through, ideal for fishermen. The cottage is ideallly located in the centre of town, although you would expect it to be noisy due to its location, it is tucked up a quiet side street, where you can sit outside and watch the hustle and bustle of the town going by or pop down to the corner shop and sample one of their fantstic choice of wonderful ice creams. Or up to the wine shop who serve light lunches, while enjoying a cappuccino, or take a picnic down to the riverside and lie in the sunshine, there are too many choices to list here!
Unique benefits of the property
You have the charm of Melrose, the Abbey is virtually on your doorstep and you are surrounded by local history. Melrose also hosts many annual events such as the World Famous Melrose Rugby 7's in April or the Borders Book Festival in June which brings in famous authors such as Michael Palin, Rory Bremner, Maureen Lipman from all over the country. There is also a the Wynd Theatre, which only sits 80 people but has weekly theatre, arts and music events. The Eildon Hills are a backdrop to Melrose and offer wonderful walking opportunities and many other walks again surround the area. We have a minimum of 10 golf courses within a 20 mile radius, horseriding, shooting, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, cycling paths. You should never be bored!
