Stylish New Town Studio Apartment
Quiet Mews Location, 5 Minutes Walk from Princes Street
Sleeps 2 (Studio Apartment)

A relaxing bolthole at the centre of Scotland’s capital, the 'City Bothy' is situated in Edinburgh’s historic New Town. This stylish studio apartment is 5 minutes walk from many of the city’s best shops, restaurants and galleries. But it’s not just about location. We’ve tried to create the kind of place we would like to stay in ourselves. What you won’t find are nylon sheets or a saggy old sofa. What you will find is Wi-Fi, a dishwasher, newly installed central heating and a really good bed. 'Bothy' in Scots means a small mountain refuge, but don’t worry, you won’t have to rough it. Freshly renovated, this ground floor apartment consists of an open plan kitchen/living space, with a bedroom off it. There is also a separate full-sized bathroom, with a newly fitted suite and power shower over the bath. Facilities include a well-equipped kitchen (including electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher), free wi-fi internet access and a 20-inch LCD television (with Freeview and DVD player).

Notes on accommodation
Sorry, we love animals but the City Bothy isn't suitable for pets. We love some smokers too, but it's not suitable for them either.
Accessibility
Though the apartment is set on the ground floor, access to the development as a whole is by steps (around five, either up or down) so it is not suitable for wheelchair access.
Outside
The apartment looks out onto a quiet, shared courtyard which has some nice planting and benches to sit out on.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach to Edinburgh is at Portobello, just east of the city centre. This is easily reached by bus or taxi. If you're heading that way, make sure you stop off at Portobello's old Victorian swimming baths for a steam or sauna in lovely tiled surroundings (Glenogle Baths is a similar heritage swimming pool 10 minutes' walk from the apartment, in Stockbridge).
Golf
Gullane, Muirfield and North Berwick are all within an hour's drive of Edinburgh. Other famous courses which can be reached - and returned from - within a day include St Andrews Old Course, Gleneagles and, at a push, Turnberry. Closer at hand, you can play on Edinburgh's many public courses, including Braid Hills, Craigentinny and Silverknowes.
Travel
The apartment is within 10 minutes' walk of (and around a £5 taxi ride from) Edinburgh's Waverley train station. If you're coming by air, a taxi from the airport costs around £20. Alternatively, you can take a bus to Princes Street (£5 return) and either walk, or take a taxi (around £5) from there. Glasgow city centre is a 45 minute train ride away.
