Owner profile
About the owner
Foulain is one of a number of cottages on Eriboll Estate. We pride ourselves in being informative and helpful and will endeavour to answer questions or solve problems rapidly and personally. Our wish is for you to enjoy our beautiful location as much as we do.
Year purchased: 1980's
Why the owner chose a home in this location
Foulain was until recently a Shepherds House on our Estate. It was built in the 1960s by the Estate to house a local family who needed accommodation closer to Durness School for their children whilst their father was out working on the more remote parts of the Estate. The family still live and work in the area. In the mornings and evenings the cottage surroundings become a haven for wildlife, being within a special Scottish conservation area it is predominantly unspoilt. With its nearest neighbour 1 mile away it may be a little too remote for some but suit those looking for some peace and quiet/"me time".
Unique benefits of the property
Masses of fresh air and traditional pursuits are what are on offer here. Evenings of family interaction and days of exploration whether just round Foulain itself or venturing further afield. John O Groats is 2 hours away and the Orkneys are worth a visit. You need to experience the magic for yourselves.
