This apartment is located on the second floor of the Abbey.
Outside
Set in more than 20 acres, the landscaped private gardens are surrouded on 3 sides by the Caledonian Canal, the River Tarff and the western shores of Loch Ness with its own small harbour and mooring facilities (available 2009).
Coast/Beach
The beautiful beaches of the West Coast of Scotland can be found about an hour away with easy access to Isle of Skye across the new bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh. To the East there are several possibilities in the Dornoch/Black Isle area.
Golf
Fort Augustus has its own golf course within walking distance of The Highland Club, while the championship courses of Nairn and Royal Dornoch are easily accessible.
Skiing
Aonach Mor Ski Area, beside Ben Nevis, boasts stunning views and fresh mountain air all year round and is only 30 mins drive. It has 12 lifts and challenging skiing for all abilities. Further afield, there is skiing at Cairngorm and Lecht both just over an hour away.
Travel
Inverness is the nearest airport (34 miles) and also has mainline fast train/sleeper service from London's Kings Cross. Glasgow and Edinburgh both have International Airports where rental cars can be picked up and the scenic West Coast route taken via Loch Lomond, Gleneagles or Pitlochry.

Further details
Fort Augustus has a number of local pubs/restaurants, local supermarket and a variety of gift shops. Whisky Distilleries are in all directions, while for the children, the Hogwart's Express is a train that runs along the valley where Harry Potter was filmed. The nearby ruins of Urquhart Castle, Cawdor Castle and the world famous Eilean Donan Castle are all within an hour's drive. Not forgetting the Loch Ness Visitor's Centre and the monster itself...

Five star accommodation in a sympathetically restored Abbey. The views down Loch Ness were spectacular; what more could we ask for? The only disappointment was we didn't spot Nessie!
