Arichastlich, originally built by the Earl of Breadalbane as a fishing lodge, lies in splendid solitude with stunning scenery from every room. It is easily reached by road, rail and helicopter! The Old House is an ancient stone building. It has been totally renovated by the owners, the Kerrs, who live in the adjacent house, to provide a large modern interior with fully equipped kitchen and very spacious rooms. The property, overlooking the River Orchy, is designed for one couple, for family holidays or for sabbatical study use. Out of season, it is an ideal base for botanists, geologists and ornithologists. In complete absence of light pollution, the night sky can be quite breathtaking.

About the owner
Having spent many years in wide ranging careers from Garden Centres to Fags n' Mags, John and Erica are at last enjoying providing Highland Hospitality, something they themselves have appreciated to the full. As they grow just a little older the main change is that you now have to make the journey to Glen Orchy to meet them and benefit from their years of experiencing the very best of relaxation and pleasure.

Year purchased: 1994

Why the owner chose a home in this location
The remoteness, the wide open spaces , the lack of noise, the wildness, the ability to re-charge your batteries by just looking out of the window, this is a magical place. The Old House is a complete renovation of one of The Earl of Breadalbane's fishing lodges, in an outstanding North Argyll glen. Intended for our extended family, but when they are not here, we welcome you and your guests to enjoy the wild Scottish landscape in generous comfort. It is all for you!

Unique benefits of the property
Wide open spaces. Zero light pollution. No traffic. No noise. Wild deer in the field in front of your bedroom and the odd eagle on the ridge. Pets are always welcomed, particularly by our small white hairy mutt, Boris, named with respect after the Mayor of London. Our "Host's Choice" - gives you all the low-down on local eateries, walks, climbs and drives. The places to enjoy and the places to avoid! You can join us on a sea trip on our workboat for the purpose of seaweed harvesting and watching the wildlife on the wild shores of the inner Western Isles; or try your luck at Salmon fishing or even some demanding Clay Pigeon bagging (some activities attract a charge).
