Golf
The ancient Kingdom of Fife is the Home Of Golf and the Cottage is perfectly situated overlooking Crail Golf Course. Situated 11 miles from the famous St Andrews golf courses, Crail golf course is relatively short at 5720 yards but it's imaginative and tricky layout mean that it's no pushover. Crail golf course tempts the golfer with difficult but rewarding shots including the 5th hole, known as "Hell's Hole", where a successful shortcut across the shoreline can prove either a round-winner or a disastrous mistake. As with many courses in the St Andrews area, Crail golf course is set on a beautiful coastline, making even a bad round a pleasure. Visitors can play all year round from £30 per round during winter months and rising to £51 during summer months. For more information and online tee reservation please contact owner.

Further details
The ancient and charming village of Crail is just over 1 mile away from the Cottage. It's narrow cobbled streets, lined with quaint houses open up into a picturesque harbour. It is well known for the shellfish that is caught and sold here - you can't get any fresher! The village contains useful amenities such as a convenience store, bank, pub, fish and chip shop, restaurant, small supermarket, newsagent etc. There are many places to go and things to do in and around the East Neuk and something to suit everyone. For gardeners there are the Botanical gardens in St Andrews as well as the garden centres scattered around, and for the more creative try the Crail Pottery. For families, there is Craigtoun Park by St Andrews, a great adventure playground for children, with a boating pond and miniature train and lots of space to run around and burn off excess energy. Moving on you come to the Deer Centre at Cupar. Also a great attraction is the wild birds, almost every day in the season there is a show of the flying falcons etc. In St Andrews next to the Royal and Ancient Golf club is the St Andrews Aquarium, walking down the themed stairway the aquarium allows you to see a wide variety of underwater display with sharks, rays, etc. Heading back to the East Neuk you can venture into the Secret Bunker. The East Neuk has historical links no matter where you go, visit the Crail Heritage Museum or the Scottish Fisheries Museum to find out more of the local history. There are several castles open to the public during the summer season with gardens and play areas too. Coastal routes round the East Neuk are a delight and give you spectacular views which cannot be seen from the coastal roads. East Fife is the ideal location for a romantic getaway for couples of all ages. Enjoy a romantic stroll along the beautiful sandy beaches, where you can also experience fantastic sunsets. There is an abundance of award winning and family friendly restaurants within the area.
