Just a little further out from Sandown cottages there is a very good golf course, Sandown and Shanklin Golf Club about two miles away. To the North of a self-catering rental home in Sandown, is Culver Down, a chalk down with an array of down land wild life and a nesting area for seabirds on the adjoining cliffs. Also of interest to nature lovers, not far from a Sandown holiday home is the Sandown Levels, a freshwater wetlands, a very popular place for bird watching. The Isle of Wight is quite small and worth exploring with several historic buildings like Carisbrooke Castle and Osbourne House.
