Another wonderful chateau within minutes of Richelieu self-catering villas is the Chateau d’Aza le Rindeu and sits nest to the water in a picturesque setting. The entire region around Richelieu holiday cottages is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has enabled it to retain its idyllic charm. A huge array of outdoor activities are available close by, like walking, horseback riding, cycling or water sports on the Vienne or Loire. It’s also one of the country’s most important wine-growing regions – Richelieu holiday rentals fall under the Touraine viticulture region, with a host of wineries close by. There are no fewer than five golf courses within an hour of self-catering accommodation in Richelieu – the nearby Hait-Poitou club rated as one of the best in the country.

Best Time to Visit
Spring can arrive quite late in the region around self-catering accommodation in the Loire Valley, but you can expect warm weather from around May onwards. This is a good time to see the beautiful chateaux in the area as you can avoid the crowds.
