Quimperle self-catering holiday accommodation is set in and around a charming small town at the confluence of two rivers. The town’s old centre is particularly attractive, with a tangle of narrow streets lined with beautiful half-timbered houses. This makes it popular with visitors in the summer, who come to explore the picturesque old churches that are tucked down these streets. Quimperle gites are within minutes of some of Brittany’s most interesting towns and historical sites. The resort of Benodet is about 40 minutes by car to the west of cottages in Quimperle, and has served as a summer holiday destination for more than a century. Here you’ll find a lovely sandy beach, and excellent seafood restaurants are scattered throughout the town.

Closer to Quimperle rental villas is the town of Concarneau, which is a vital fishing port – an industry that has thrived here for centuries. Unsurprisingly the daily fish market in the town is excellent, while the old town is well worth visiting. Ville Close, as its known, actually sits off the coast in the harbour, linked with a drawbridge and as surrounded by fortifications that date back to the 1600s. Keen golfers will find plenty to enjoy during their trip to Quimperle farmhouses, with two 18-hole courses within a 20-minute drive; Queven is a woodland course, while Ploemeur is a championship-standard links. For a taste of culture close to Quimperle self-catering gites, head for the town of Pont Aven, where the artist Paul Gauguin settled for a period in the late-19th Century.
