There are numerous Championship golf courses just a short drive away, including Penina (home of Portuguese Open), Palmares, Alto Golf and Boa Vista Championship Golf Club. Other: Front balcony overlooking the pool has glass table with sun parasol and 6 chairs for outdoor dining. Rear Balcony is fitted with small table & 2 chairs and enjoys view of Portimao and the city lights after dark.

Notes on accommodation
The air conditioning units are designed to heat or cool the rooms as required. There is a growing collection of books and board games in the apartment. Internet Access is available at a PC in the main reception (charges apply).

Accessibility
The apartment is on the second floor (top floor) and is accessed by stairs.

Outside
Guests will be given security cards to access the Oasis Parque leisure complex. Here there is a large indoor pool and Jacuzzi and changing rooms. Outside there is another large pool and a small pool for toddlers, 2 tennis courts and a children's playground. There are always ample sun loungers available, even during peak season. The poolside cafe bar provides good value and quality snacks during the day, and traditional and home fare food at night.

Coast/Beach
Alvor is a long long beautiful beach, and since the making of a film there in recent years, is becoming an increasing popular destination with the local population.
Praia da Rocha is one of the Algarve's most famous beaches, and would have a more livelier strip.
Both of these beaches are about a 10 minute drive from Oasis parque, and there are countless other beaches and walks to discover.

Golf
Le Meridan Penina, which has hosted the Portuguese Open 8 times, is the closest golf club being about a 2 minute drive away. There are numerous other clubs with a 10-20 minute drive, including Alto Golf, Palmares and Boa Vista Golf. For info on getting discounts on green fees, please contact me.

Special interest holidays
The Algarve Autodrome is a 10 minute drive from here. Have the ultimate single seater experience in their racing school, or come along to the see some of the hottest racing action during 2010. Events include the Superbike World Championship, World Touring Car Championship, Formula 3000, The International Ferrari Challenge, Le Mans Series, and two rounds of the Portuguese Touring Car Championship.

Travel
Faro International Airport is the most convenient to most travellers, and is approx a 40 minute drive to Oasis Parque. Alternatively you could fly to Lisbon Airport, but this is a two and a half to three hour drive, mainly on motorways.
For those of you lucky to have a private helicopter or plane, there is an aerodrome in Alvor, less than 5 minutes away.
It is recommeneded that you hire a car to fully explore the area.

Distances
There is a small supermarket, and a number bars and restaurants within walking distance, as well as the French hypermarket E. LeClerc. The new Portimao Retail Park is also within walking distance, and includes another hypermarket, Continente, the sport superstore Decathlon, and a variety of other shops and a food mall. Alvor and Portimao are respectively each about 5 mins drive away, or about 5 euros in a taxi.

Further details
Alvor, which has many excellent restaurants and bars offering regional and international cuisine. The stunning beaches at Alvor are uncrowded and offer a safe environment for families. There are countless bars and restaurants serving everything from pizza to International quality cuisine, with many of the harbour side restaurants specializing in freshly caught fish cooked in front of you at an outdoor barbecue.

Portimao is a bustling city, with many shopping outlets, restaurants and bars. The local beach and “strip” here is the famous Praia da Rocha, and this is where you go more a more livlier night out. It has recently smartened up its waterside areas and is well worth a visit. If anything the shops here are better and more varied than in Lagos. Look out for the pedestrianised streets as this is where most of the good shops are.

For those with children, Zoomarine is a must – a full days entertainment for children of all ages with four shows featuring dolphins, seal lions and birds of prey. All amusement rides, and pool facilities included in the admission – great value at 14 euros a child / 22 euros adult.
For those who like getting really wet, Slide and Splash, and AquaLand offer a variety of ways to spend time in the water.

LAGOS is a beautiful little town, and is about twenty minutes drive away. There is a good selection of shops, as well as lots of bars and restaurants. The yacht marina is an attractive recent addition to the town.

Cape St Vincent was once known as “the end of the world” as it is the most Westerly point in Europe, and reputedly has the most powerful lighthouse in Europe. This bit of coastline is on a par with the Cliffs of Moher for magnificent, rugged coastal scenery. Take a coat, when the wind blows, there is nothing but ocean between you and America!
Sagres is the last town on the road West towards Cape St Vincent. There are some nice beaches here, and a great pottery store.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We went to Portugal on a package holiday in July 2006 and we immediately struck with the differences between our package accomodation and that at Oasis Parque. Having left a very busy complex where you had to fight for a sun lounger and then pay for the privilege, we were immediately struck that the opposite was true here. We were impressed by the amount of space and the relaxed atmosphere around the pool. Then there was the cleanliness. From the pools, to the changing rooms and toilets, the standard was, and continues to be, impeccable. The leisure club is gated, and accessed by personal swipe cards, and the feeling of security is enhanced by staff presence and CCTV. So before we even went to look at an apartment, we had fallen in love with Oasis Parque.

Unique benefits of the property
Location is key. We are just 40 mins from the airport, just three minutes off the motorway, a nice easy drive down. We are just five minutes from Alvor and equally from Portimao and the fabulous beaches and restaurants each have to offer. Being close to the motorway means you can be at a host of attractions in less than 15 minutes, be it numerous golf courses, the F1 Autodrome, Water parks, Shopping malls or whatever it is that you do on holidays.
