Lovely 1 bed, top floor apartment, sleeps 2, with entry phone system. Ideally located, only a 5 minute stroll into the centre of Alvor, with its quaint narrow streets and good selection of restaurants and bars. A 7 minute walk takes you to the lovely sandy beach. Alvor is ideal for families and couples and a perfect retreat for adults to relax. The apartment is well furnished and equipped and has the advantage of a large private roof terrace, separate balcony, large kitchen/living room, bedroom and bathroom. There is an allocated parking place in the underground garage, great for keeping the car cool in the summer.

Notes on accommodation
Adults only, no children or infants due to the apartment being located on the 3rd floor. No smoking inside the apartment. Sorry, no pets. Heating facility during the colder months is provided. Safety deposit box available for use.
The apartment 'Alojamento Local' is fully licensed by the local Portuguese authority.

Accessibility
The apartment is on the third floor and serviced by a lift. Please be aware that occassionally the lift is out of order which is beyond our control.

Outside
Private roof terrace (300 sq.m.) with dining table and seating, sun loungers and electric shades. The complex has a good-sized adult pool, set in lawned gardens. The pool area is clean and for a small hire charge there are sun loungers and sunshades. A tennis court is on site and racquet hire is available at reception. On site there is a mini market, snack bars and cafe/restaurants which offer delicious snacks and light meals. Ali and Mark will offer you a warm welcome at their on-site bar, Cactos II. (Some facilities not available during the winter season).

Coast/Beach
Alvor's beach is a superb 3 mile stretch of golden sand just 5 to 7 minutes walk away with a number of beach cafes. Take a stroll along the beach or the newly constructed boardwalk through the nature reserve which includes marshland, saltpans and mudflats of the Alvor estuary which is great for birdwatching. Walk to the harbour and see the fishermen bringing in their morning catch.
Lunch on fresh charcoal-grilled sardines at one of the many harbour cafes with views across the river estuary.

Golf
A number of top class courses within easy reach:
Alto Club, 5 minutes drive.
Championship Penina, 10 minutes drive.
Quinta do Morgado, 10 minutes drive.
Palmares, 15 minutes drive.
There is a professional golf shop nearby, the owner is English and an experienced golfer whom can give you all the information you need.

Travel
Alvor is 45 minutes to 1 hour maximum from Faro Airport. An easy route on the motorway with smooth roads and no congestion. Car hire is not essential, but desirable if you want to tour around. Should you not wish to drive, we can arrange reliable transfers.

Distances
10 minutes to Praia da Rocha with marina and night clubs.
10 minutes to Portimao with its harbour and shopping centre.
20 minutes to Lagos, a larger resort with a yachting marina.
30 minutes to Caldas de Monchique, a picturesque spa village.
45 minutes to Monchique, a mountain town.
Only 1 hr 15 mins to the Costa de la Luz in Spain. Here you can visit Ayamonte, traditional Spanish town favoured by artists or the beach resorts of Isla Canela with its beautiful beaches.

Further details
Well stocked supermarket, 3 minutes walk away. Pingo Doce supermarket 5 mins by car, selling fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables and freshly baked bread. Internet access available in Cactos II and reception.
Good shopping for leather goods, pottery, table linen and cork products in local craft shops and markets.
Coach tours and jeep safaris available.
Local archaeology includes site of a roman villa and Neolithic burial chamber.
Treks and walks through the Monchique mountains among orange, fig, almond and cork trees.
Other activities include golf, sailing, fishing, horse riding, diving, canoeing, cycling, water theme parks and zoos.
Local sports centre in Alvor with indoor swimming pool and tennis courts for hire.
Local tennis centre at Alvor Praia with 5 clay courts offering tuition, racquet rental and tournaments.
Varied choice of local restaurants offering excellent fish and seafood, Portuguese cuisine, Italian, Chinese, Indian, Tex-Mex and English.

Booking notes
25% deposit on booking. The remainder is due 8 weeks prior to departure. £100 breakages deposit required with final balance. Our English speaking property management services are based locally and offer the following: A meet and greet service. 24 hr on-call support should you encounter any problems during your stay. (Charge payable for call-out). Welcome service to exchange keys and settle you in. Welcome pack on arrival.
