Tavira Garden is regarded as the highest quality complex in the unspoilt Eastern Algarve. The spacious buildings are imaginatively designed in Moorish style, each different from its neighbour and set in extensive and immaculate mature gardens in this quiet complex. Facilities at Tavira Garden include 2 large pools both with adjoining children's pools and surrounded by sun loungers and shade if required, large well equipped gym with sauna, football/tennis court, children's playground, lounge area, office (open Monday-Friday, English spoken), restaurant/bar with inside and outside dining, BBQ area. There is ample safe parking space on the complex. Internet facilities are available in the Tavira Garden restaurant. It's a very short walk to Tavira's old town areas, harbour and Roman Bridge. Tavira has one of the best beaches in Europe - 12km long, clean, sandy and uncrowded even in summer - with EC Blue Flag status. Many other huge sandy beaches are within easy reach of Tavira Garden.

Notes on prices
Prices may be converted to UK Pounds. NB: while the exchange rate is poor, your deposit may be paid in Sterling at 1.45€/£ (for bookings of 7 days min).
These prices are for maximum 2 people + baby in cot; an additional 15 euros per person per week is charged for the 3rd and 4th guest.
Bookings for part weeks are charged pro-rata the weekly rate.
The special price for long winter lets is for bookings of 4 weeks minimum, and excludes the cost of electricity used.

Changeover day
Arrival and departure dates are fully flexible. Access on arrival may sometimes not be until 5pm and guests may be asked to vacate by 10am on departure day, but only if required for changeover/cleaning purposes. Luggage storage is available.

Accommodation
Apartment (Sleeps 2/4)
Comfortable bright 1 bedroomed apartment in a quiet position on the complex. Sleeps up to 4.
Bedroom: twin divan beds, large fitted mirrored wardrobes, air con, ceiling fan, heater.
Lounge/dining room: air con, heaters, LCD flat screen TV with lots of UK channels, DVD player, radio/CD/cassette player, furniture includes comfortable double sofa bed, easy chairs, dining table seating 4.
Kitchen: fully equipped with fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, full-size cooker (oven & 4-ring hob) with extractor fan over, microwave, double sink, iron/ironing board, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, etc.
Bathroom: bath/shower, basin, bidet, WC, heater.
Enormous private roof terrace (sunny all day) accessed from inside apartment, with stunning 360 degree views over roofs and countryside to the sea; tables and chairs, sun umbrellas, luxury sun loungers, shower.
Also separate small balcony at front of apartment with table and chairs.
All bed linen and bathroom towels provided.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment is cleaned to a high standard before clients' arrival & after departure. Clients use of air-conditioning is optional, price 3 Euros per day if required. This building has no gas installations. The apartment has fire extinguisher and blanket, smoke alarms, security safe for guests' use free-of-charge, hair dryer, comprehensive information folder, selection of books. The apartment has heaters, double-glazed windows, the air con heats as well as cools, so is perfect for winter holidays.
We do not allow pets in this property. Smokers are requested to smoke only in outside areas. Baby's travel cot available on prior request price 3 Euros per night. Beach/pool towels available for hire price 2 Euros per towel per stay. There is a small charge for use of the gym & tennis court on the complex. Tavira Garden's laundry facilities including tumble dryer may be used by guests for a small charge. Occasionally there may be limited opening of the gym or restaurant out of high season.

Accessibility
This apartment is on the first floor and is therefore not suitable for people with difficulty climbing stairs.

Outside
Enormous private roof terrace accessed from inside apartment - sunshine all day - which covers the whole apartment, with wonderful 360 degree views over the roofs and countryside to the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and the sea. On the roof terrace there are tables and chairs, comfortable new sun loungers, sun umbrellas, shower. There is also a small balcony at the front of the apartment with table and chairs. The extensive mature gardens and swimming pools, plus all other facilities on the Tavira Garden complex, may be used by everybody staying there.

Coast/Beach
Relax on one of the massive clean uncrowded sandy beaches stretching along this coast - warmest sea in Portugal! Reach huge sandy Tavira beach by a delightful short boat trip across the lagoon from the town. There are many other wonderful sandy beaches along this unspoiled stretch of coast, all within easy reach and uncrowded even in summer. The Spanish border is approx 30km to the east, where the ancient border castles, quiet old villages and broad River Guadiana are a must to explore.

Golf
Several top quality golf courses are within very easy reach; the nearest, Benamor (5,500 metres, par 71) was designed by Sir Henry Cotton and is only 4km from Tavira Garden. Other nearby courses include Quinta de Cima - 6,256 metres, par 72 (7km from Tavira Garden); Quinta da Ria - 6,110 metres, par 72 (7km from Tavira Garden); Castro Marim - 5,466 metres, par 72 (28km from Tavira Garden). Lots of other courses in the western Algarve and western Spain are within one hour's drive. The new Jack Nicklaus Monte Rei golf course is 15 minutes drive away.

Price discounts for most local courses (currently approx 30%) may be obtained with a Tavira Garden card which should be requested prior to arrival. Golf club rental is available including trolley.

Special interest holidays
Private boat trips can be organised, completely tailor-made to suit your requirements and very good value for money. The boats take up to 7 and up to 11 people. For example - bird watching in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve; fishing; exploring the coast, Tavira Island, the River Gilão running through Tavira town, etc. Why not take a little boat trip to one of the nearby deserted beaches, or to delightful Santa Luzia village for a leisurely cheap fish lunch in one of the little restaurants overlooking the sea there?

Travel
Faro Airport is approx 35km away. We can organise your airport transfers by taxi at discounted rates. We can arrange car hire for you with a local high quality company - to collect at Faro Airport if required at no extra charge - although a car is not necessary for the enjoyment of your holiday at Tavira Garden. Bicycle hire is available in town. Trains from Tavira Station will take you to other parts of Portugal, and buses cover a wide area including to Seville and other parts of Spain.

Distances
You may wish to explore the nearby unspoiled little fishing villages such as Santa Luzia, Cabanas, Cacela Velha or Fuzeta, with their huge sandy uncrowded beaches and quaint cobbled streets. The massive Ria Formosa Nature Reserve abounds with birdlife - flamingos are regular visitors - and the hills and pretty old villages of the Serra do Caldeirão are just a few kilometres north, with breathtaking views and peaceful lanes ideal for walking or cycling.

Further details
The Tavira Garden complex is situated in the northern part of unspoiled Tavira town, still a working fishing port and considered to be the most elegant and beautiful town on the Algarve. Tavira has a history going back to Roman and Moorish times, and with its narrow cobbled streets, ancient hilltop castle, old churches, traditional tiled houses, little shops and Roman bridge spanning the broad River Gilão which runs through the town, exploring is sheer delight. Tourism has had very little impact here, and the area is completely untouched by any 'yob culture'. There are plenty of little pavement cafes and restaurants, many along the banks of the palm-lined river, offering cheap and delicious food. There is a daily market selling delicious local produce, fruit, vegetables, meat and fish - all fresh and very cheap. The nearest supermarket is approx 100 metres (open 7 days per week 9am-9pm). The nearest bakers, chemist, post office, newsagent, cafés, other small shops and cash point are approx 700 metres. It's a very short and attractive walk from Tavira Garden through parts of the picturesque old town to the Roman Bridge, fishing port and harbour areas, where you'll also find the tourist information office near the castle.

Booking notes
30% deposit required at time of booking, balance 8 weeks before arrival. Bookings less than 8 weeks prior to arrival, 100% payable at time of booking. Payment may be made in Sterling using the Owners Direct currency conversion chart. In case of cancellation the 30% deposit is non-refundable and we will reimburse as much of the 70% balance as we have been able to recoup with a replacement booking. If payments are not prompt, bookings may be liable to cancellation.
