Stable type doors open into the high ceilinged kitchen dining area, the two bedrooms and bathroom are also on the ground floor. Upstairs, which can be accessed both by an internal and external stairway, is a spacious living room, and an adjoining covered terrace.

Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible, usually arriving and departing at the weekend. Property should be vacated by 10am and only entered at 4pm, but this can be flexible depending on the occupancy.

| Bedrooms: | Main bedroom 1 has a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Air conditioning. Bedroom 2 has twin beds and a fitted wardrobe. Both rooms are plenty big enough to accommodate a cot or child's bed. |
| Bathrooms: | The generous sized bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, shower screen, bidet, toilet and sink. |
| Kitchen: | The kitchen is large and very well equipped, with fridge / freezer, microwave, electric hob and oven, toaster, washing machine, dishwasher. There is a dining table in the centre that seats six and extra living space in a sitting area at the far end. |
| Living Rooms: | The living room is on the first floor and is light and airy, with a high ceiling. Seating for five. There is a satellite TV, DVD player and unlimited wifi internet, and air conditioning. The patio doors are fitted with separate mosquito screens. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Linen and towels are included, linen and towels will be changed once a week. No cleaning service is provided but the property will be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for each new arrival, and a welcome food pack put in. |

Accessibility
The living room and upper terrace are on the first floor, accessed by either an internal or external set of stairs, so this property is not suitable for people who cannot manage steps.
Outside
On the ground floor is a private walled patio with table and chairs, and sun umbrella. There is a charcoal barbecue also. This patio is situated next to the kitchen for convenience when preparing food. Leading up from this area are steps to the covered top terrace, charmingly shaded by a bamboo cover. This is equipped with a bench and two chairs, all with cushions and a low table. This area can also be accessed from the upstairs living room, through large sliding doors.
Coast/Beach
Figueira has its own beach, which can be accessed by a two minute car ride then a ten minute walk down a secluded valley. Further west are several more gorgeous beaches, usually with fish restaurants nearby, and the West coast is fast earning a reputation as a great place for surfing, as well as being beautiful.
Golf
Parque da Floresta Golf and Leisure Resort is a 5 minute drive away. This resort has an eighteen hole golf course, plus bowling, tennis, restaurants, spa, swimming pools. A 20 minute drive away is Boa Vista golf course, and the other side of Lagos is Palmares, an 18 hole golf course with another 9 holes ready soon.
Espiche golf course is a new course and about 20 minutes' drive away.
Travel
Faro is the nearest airport, just over an hour's drive away. In order to get the best out of a holiday in Figueira a car is essential, so as to explore both the countryside and the coastline.
Distances
The house is in the middle of the village of Figueira, the next village is Budens, a five minute drive away. The nearest town of any size is Lagos, which is a twenty minute car ride. Salema Beach is a five minute drive away, a fishing village full of character, with several excellent restaurants.
Further details
There are several bars, restaurants and shops in the village, for daily needs. There is a larger supermarket five minutes away in Budens and Parque da Floresta and the supermarket (Intermarche) have cash machines. Lagos has several banks and money exchange facilities, plus several large supermarkets, and shops selling local crafts, souvenirs, clothes etc. There is a spa at Parque da Floresta and Lagos has many hairdressers and beauticians. The area is fast becoming well known for birdwatching, as many migratory birds pass through, and there is a cycle route that passes through the village that traverses the length of the Algarve. Many stretches of the coast have a footpath alongside them and the unspoilt countryside is full of fantastic wild flowers in the Spring.

We have lived in the Algarve for 20+ years and brought our two children up here, I worked in the tourism and leisure industry and husband in the construction industry. Now both retired and enjoying a more relaxed life style. Very keen on all sports, including running, skiing, cycling, walking. We live in the country and grow our own fruit and vegetables.

If you looking to escape from a hectic lifestyle and wish to enjoy beautiful unspoilt scenery and vast stretches of golden beaches, maybe brush up on your surfing or golfing skills, or just relax, Casa Maria is the perfect base in which to spend an enjoyable holiday. The area is steeped in history, with walks along the coast and inland. The house is in the middle of the small village of Figueira, with its winding streets and whitewashed houses it is like stepping back in time to a quieter less hectic era.
Unique benefits of the property
The area has its own microclimate which makes it great for wild flowers and nature, the beaches on the south and the west coast are spectacular and never crowded, and the house is in the middle of a small unspoilt village with local shops, bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. There is a golf course five minutes' drive away and the fishing village of Salema has several excellent restaurant well known for their fish dishes. The house itself was converted from a barn, and much use has been made of the wooden beams which were original features, so while the house offers a high standard of modern conveniences it still retains a charming old world atmosphere.
