Accommodation: There are three large bedrooms which have en-suite facilities, plasma air-conditioning, double beds (English), lots of wardrobe space. Two bedrooms are on the first floor with the third on the ground floor which has direct access to the patio area by the pool. Kitchen/diner: The kitchen is of modern design and includes Hob (induction) with overhead extractor, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher. Plasma air-conditioning. Lounge: Enjoys two and four seater settees (one includes corner unit), they are made by Natuzzi and are real leather. LCD 40in Freesat television which has all the main English channels. Access to the swimming pool/patio area is through the large sliding doors. Office/bedroom: There is an opportunity if required to make the office an additional bedroom which will have use of a separate toilet/hand basin. Bath/shower would need to be shared with the ground floor bedroom.

Linen is changed weekly. Please provide your own beach towels.
The property is managed by an English couple who live locally and are on call for emergencies.
Pool is cleaned weekly.
Obligatory final cleaning £60 on each rental.

Access to the property is via the front door. Presently the property is not suitable for the disabled as there are stairs to climb.
The private swimming pool is solely for the use of guests only, outside shower. Barbecue. There is a viewing seat which is ideal during the early evening to view Tavira by night. Also the balcony from the master bedroom has some excellent panoramic views. Sun loungers and chairs around the pool area. A footpath gives access to Tavira town centre and can be reached in 6 to 10 mins (depending on agility).
Important notes on accommodation
Plasma air-con, TV, DVD player, cleaning, laundry, weekly pool clean etc all included in rates. Local area is quite upmarket, relatively quiet and secure. Smoking is not permitted within the villa and pets are also not allowed.

Flexible on arrival date. Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Late arrival service charge 35 euros from 6pm up to 10pm anytime after 10pm 50 euros when collecting keys.
Flexible where possible changeover is usually Saturday, but will consider other days of the week. Arrive 4pm. Depart 10am but flexible if overlapping bookings permit.
Non-refundable deposit 25% (min GB£250), required to confirm reservation. Balance due 8 weeks (56 days) before rental start. Security deposit: pay with reservation = £250. Or pay €400 locally when collecting key. Refund up to 14 days after depart. Balance partially refundable: 55 to 42 days before start: 75%. 41 to 28 days before start: 50%. 27 to 14 days before start: 25%.

Large Detached Villa in Tavira, Eastern Algarve
About the area
Tavira is on the estuary of the River Gilao. Ilha da Tavira (Tavira Island) boasts some of the best beaches in the Algarve. A must visit. Ferries operate, water taxi or (over a causeway) by train. Many beaches nearby which include: Manta Rota, Praia Verde, Altura, Monte Gordo, Vila Real de Santo Antonio.
The Algarve has all year round golf: Three courses lie 5 to 10 minutes drive (Benamor, Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima) while Castro Marim, Colina Verde/Maragota, Monte Rei and Quinta do Vale are within 20 to 30 mins. Most of the world-renowned Algarve courses lie within one hour's drive. All of these courses boast magnificent ocean views greens and fairways. Locally, Benamor and Quinta da Cima offer excellent lunches.
Special Interest Holidays
Tavira is surrounded by the Ria Formosa Nature Park. This is rich in flora and fauna, etc. For those interested in relaxing, it offers horse-riding, cycling, or just plain walking, etc. Tavira itself offers a variety of Roman, Moorish and Crusader sites. In the Guadiana Valley, you find remains going back to Phoenician times. The Guadiana Valley (the border between Spain and Portugal) is 20km/15 miles away and has several ancient walled cities well worth exploring, you can take a river-boat cruise up the river from Villa Real de Santo Antonio to visit the walled towns, it stops for lunch en route.
How to get there
Travel: The nearest airport is Faro (35km/20 miles/30 mins) but Seville (2 hours drive, almost all motorway) can be a good alternative. A car is not essential - you are in Tavira and taxis are plentiful and inexpensive by UK standards. Car or bicycle hire are available locally but booking in the UK can be much cheaper. The Algarve boasts excellent and inexpensive regional trains and buses.
Distances from Tavira: Faro (City or Airport) 35km/35 mins. Seville150km/100 miles 90 mins (airport 2 hours). Lisbon 350km/200 miles 3.5 hours. The motorway is the easiest route from Faro airport IP1/A22 (follow the signs for Spain).
Tavira boasts five supermarkets, they are: Continente (in the Grand Plaza), Mini Preco, Pingo Doce, Lidl and Aldi. Restaurants abound with local Portuguese offerings, Indian, Chinese and Pizza Houses. During the summer (June to September) the Camara (local town council) organises a wide range of entertainments - street theatre, film festival, exhibitions, fairs, ballooning, concerts, folk music and dancing, etc.
The Guadiana River marks the border between Spain and Portugal. Centuries of conflict have left a series of walled towns along the river valley. Take a boat trip upriver from Villa Real de Santo Antonio (20 miles) to view these towns with a stop for lunch en route upriver.
Express buses connect Tavira with Lisbon and Seville where you can shop till you drop. You can get there and back in a day. There is also an express train service to Lisbon (but would advise you to travel 1st class to get the best from the journey). Public transport in Portugal is inexpensive by UK standards. The port of Tavira is still an important fishing centre and the local fish market displays an astonishing variety of seafood on a daily basis. There is also a vegetable/fish market opposite the Hotel Villa Gale.

"Fabulous Villa, Location and Management"
Wow! This was a great holiday because of the villa, it's location the owners' help and advice and their management team in Tavira. The villa was absolutely immaculate and built to an extremely high specification. It was spacious and spotlessly clean. It had everything a family needs. The pool area was wonderful for relaxing beside during the day and lazy evenings with a bite to eat in warm and picturesque surroundings. Each of the beautifully designed bedrooms had a good quality en suite bathroom so everyone was very happy and we were well catered for by being able to cook food from the local supermarkets in a fantastic kitchen. The owners provided really useful advice prior to travelling that enabled us to take full advantage of our precious week's holiday. Their management team on location in Tavira was exceedingly helpful whenever needed. They organised an excellent, reasonably priced taxi service that looked after us for the entire week, including our trips from and to the airport. As a result of this we did not need to hire a car and therefore the holiday was completely stress free. Tavira is a really nice town by a river that has a Moorish feel to it. The food at the Portuguese restaurants that we ate at was really enjoyable and the beaches are gorgeous. They are on an island that you can travel to by a regular boat service or for those who prefer land transport, then a small gauge railway. It was an excellent holiday and the villa, location and combined help of the owners and their management team on location made it a memorable and relaxing holiday.
Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers and families with young children
The villa has been fantastic and was immaculately prepared for our arrival. Fantastic villa with lovely pool, great technology that actually works ( electronic shutters really keep it cool during the day and overnight, as well as secure and super aircon too ). Beautifully equipped and exactly as portrayed by the owner. It's very spacious. Great family holiday.
