The villa is very close to Albufeira with its beautiful beach and Marina. Faro airport is a 30 minute drive away. The train station at Ferreiras is a 10 minute drive away and from there you can travel to Lisbon or across the Algarve, West or East to the Spanish border. The bus/coach/local buses station is a 5 minute drive and from there the coaches go to Lisbon and most parts of the Algarve.

Prices above will be negotiated for long Autum/Winter/Spring season stays. We also consider renting on a long term contract.
Changeover day
The villa is available from 3 pm on day of arrival and must be vacated by 10am on day of departure. Luggage can be stored with the house keeper in the garage until leaving for the Airport for afternoon Flights only.(max 4 pm.)

Notes on accommodation
The villa is available all year round for families, couples or groups for short or long term holidays. We also consider long winter stays at special rates arranged on request. Albufeira is very popular for retired couples at seasons other than Summer. Spring is very beautiful in the algarve with it`s almond trees in blossom. It`s lovely, even when it rains and the sun usually soon comes out. Around the villa there are country walks past farms and cottages,where you can walk around to your heart`s content and end up in a cafe or pastelaria for a lovely drink and delicious cake. Or walk to the beach and sit listening to the waves, and read a book. Algarve is indeed a retired person`s paradise, within a short flight from anywhere in Europe.
Accessibility
We regret very much that this property is not suitable for wheelchair users because of the steps leading to the front door and inside the property. For very young children we have safety gates that can easily be put in/taken out.
Outside
Gated locked entrances to front and garage. 3 steps up large veranda and front door. Garden to the side with grass area and olive trees and shrubs. Fenced to protect small children from the swimming pool area. The pool is shallow at 1.25m, to deep depth of 1.80m. Width of 4.10m x 8.60m. 4 sunloungers, table with parasol and 8 chairs. bench and chairs with cushions for reading/relaxing.
Parking at the front of villa or garage.
Coast/Beach
Albufeira beach is 2 km from villa. 20 mins walking, or 5 mins drive.
There are a shortage of parking spaces near the beach,especialy because trafic around the town centre has been restricted and because it`s a very old town with cobbled narrow streets, but the walk is very pleasant through avenues of trees and shops and cafes/restaurants all the way from villa.. Salgados has loads of parking space and many other beaches around Albufeira do too.
Golf
Golf course Academy within walking distance at Brejos.To the west we have Salgados golf course ( outstanding) within a natural beautiful conservation area with bird watching and many native bird species with a lagoon that stops at the sand of the wonderful Salgados beach, which extends for miles from praia da Gale to Armacao de Pera. All this just a 15m drive from the villa. This is by far, my favourite beach, because of the view/walking, extending far from left to right. At 30 mins drive to the East, we have Villamoura, Pine cliffs and Vale do Lobo golf courses and many others. Algarve is full of golf facilities to please any golf lover.
Special interest holidays
Algarve and Albufeira in particular is full of wonderful spots for painting lovely scenery, including Arabic architectural, the sea and fishing or water sports. The almond,fig trees and the traditional white houses with blue chimneys.
Travel
Faro Airport is 37km/30min drive. Car recommended if you want to travel around the Algarve and enjoy the many lovely beaches and scenery. If the intention is to rest and enjoy the surroundings, then Albufeira has it all. There are Bus routes to all beaches around the Town. Taxis are very cheap. Albufeira train station is 10mins from villa and trains go to Lisbon or across the Algarve all the way to Spanish border.
Distances
10km from the villa is Zoo Marine, an aquatic zoo/theme park, and Algarve Shopping with many shops, restaurants, bowling and cinema.
Silves stands on a hill with a castle and it's origins date back to 1000BC. It was an important city to the Romans and then the Moors.That`s why every August we have the Medieval Festival. An amazing array of colours, food, music and street entertainment. To the north we have the mountain of Monchique the highest point in the south of Portugal at 2963ft. Stunning.
Further details
A short walk from the villa there is the Emergency Health Centre, supermarket and restaurants towards Albufeira. Another short walk towards Ferreiras past the camping site, there is a self service or take away restaurant (Verde Minho, a revolution on catering), where you can indulge in trying different meals all tipical portuguese and really not expensive at all. The Strip goes from Hotel Montechoro all the way to the Praia da Oura beach. This is very popular for pubs/bars/restaurants and music. Then there's Albufeira's free concerts by the beach. Booking notes
We ask for 25% deposit required at the time of booking the villa.At 4 weeks prior to your arrival at the villa, 75% plus £250 (security deposit). The security deposit will be returned to you within 7 days of your returning from your holiday, provided no damage has occurred at the villa.

About the owner
My husband and I live in England and we have 5 grown up sons and 2 granddaughters. We both work, and spend most of our holidays in the Algarve as we have a lot of family and friends there. we are close by if necessary.
Year we purchased. 2004. We love the beaches around the Algarve, there are so many, you are never too far from one. The golf courses are wonderful, Salgados, Vilamoura,Pine Cliffs and many more within 15 to 30 minutes drive. There's lots of activities at Zoo marine, horse riding, water sports and lots of entertainment and good restaurants in Albufeira. The villa is in a quiet location backing on to a conservation area with horses and sheep, beyond which is Albufeira (20 m walk) and it's long stretch of beach, water sport and entertainment.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We first bought the land and had the villa built afterwards. we bought it because, we new the area well and thought it was perfect for what we wanted.We love Quinta dos Calicos because it`s so close to albufeira and yet it`s so quiet. It`s a Cul-de sac, only people who live there or visiting, need to go there.To us, so close to albufeira, it`s really special. at night it`s so gratifying to sit in the verandas and listen to the insects buzzing around and you even see the rabbits coming out in the field opposite, and yet, if you feel like enjoying the noise, music and pub life you just walk a few minutes and you are there, in Albufeira. Coming back you can walk or take a short taxi ride.

All the facilities and lots of space inside and out, and a private swimming pool with a eating area with barbecue to enjoy and relax with family and friends and so close to Albufeira,a buzzing popular holiday resort.
