El Dourado is situated in the picturesque village of Santa Barbara, 20 minutes from Faro. This stunning 4 bedroom, 4 bathroomed villa was built in 2000 to extremely high standards throughout. The villa is set in 2 acres of land and has spectacular views of the Algarve. There is a tropical garden, grassed lawns and a large heated swimming pool, together with dining terraces and a dedicated barbecue patio. The villa has automatic security gates and shutters and has a burglar alarm. The property is air conditioned through-out as well as having underfloor central heating.

El Dourado is situated about a 15 minute drive from Faro, and within 2.5 hours of the Spanish border and 2.5 hours from Lisbon via the new motorway. Santa Barbara itself is a lovely village with supermarkets and great restaurants and bars. The beaches and world class golf courses are situated within a 15 minute drive.

Outside
The villa is set in 2 acres of land with its own secure and automated gate system. Tropical gardens and grassed lawns surround the property which has stunning views across the Algarvian coastline. The heated pool is approximately 11m x 5m with a dedicated barbecue and sun lounge area with loungers and cushions for 8 people. The outside dining patio also caters for 8 people, and has an automatic awning for those who would like to keep in the shade.
Coast/Beach
There are numerous beaches all along the Algarve coast, from the popular wide soft sand beaches near Vale do Lobo, a 15-20 minute drive from ElDourado, which have great restuarant and bar facilities to more secluded bays such as San Rafael just west of Albufeira, about a 30 minute drive from the villa.
Golf
There are numerous world class golf courses within a short distance from the villa:
Vale do Lobo: Ocean (with its signature 15th hole)and Royal course.
Pinheiros Altos: with two contrasting nines, the pines and the lakes.
Quinta Do Lago / Ria Formosa: with breathtaking views of the sea and the mountains.
San Lorenzo: Ranked no 5 in Europe.
Vilamoura: 4 Courses all very different,The Old Course, Pinhal,Laguna and the Millenium.

Skiing
The nearest winter skiing available is in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain, about a 5 hour drive from the Algarve.

Travel
Faro airport is about a 15 minute drive from El Dourado.

The nearsest village is Santa Barbara De Nexe (2km).
Loule a bustling market town is about 5km away, as is Almancil where there are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants.
The mountains of Monchique to the North west, Cape St Vincent to the west and Tavira to the East are all approximately 1 hour drive away.
Further details
Santa Barbara itself has a number of small supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, as well as a beautiful church all within walking distance of the villa.
The new football stadium, the venue for the 2004 European championships is close by.
There are over 100 restaurants within close promimity of El Dourado, from traditional Portuguese, to Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian, Italian, French and of course English most with superb cusine and friendly service.
There are several water parks close by as well as Go Karting,horse riding, sailing and fishing.
Booking notes
Bookings are to be made directly to the villa owners.
A 25% deposit is required on booking, the balance payable eight weeks before arrival.
Keys can be collected from the Management agent based in Santa Barbara, who can also supply other services.
A £250 breakage deposit is payable on key collection
There is a supplement of £150 per week for pool heating.
