Notes on accommodation
The villa is tastefully furnished to a very high standard with ample room for one/two families or a group of golfers. It is fully centrally heated, fitted with insect screens on windows and non-smoking.
3G Internet access is available. Bedroom one (master upstairs) has a TV, big bathroom with bathtub/shower, hairdryer and private south facing balcony overlooking the pool/garden. Bedroom two (upstairs) has two beds, a writing desk and also a private south facing balcony overlooking the pool/garden. Bedroom three (master downstairs) has bathroom with bathtub/shower, hairdryer and French windows leading onto pool/garden. Bedroom four (downstairs) also has French windows leading onto terrace and its own bathroom with shower. There is also a downstairs guest wc and separate utility room with washer/dryer/iron.
Outside
The villa is surrounded by a beautiful private garden, 9m x 4m private swimming pool, substantial terracing including alfresco terrace with brick barbecue ideal for outside dining and patio that enjoys all day sun. Garden furniture includes dining table with seating and two sun loungers.
There is parking available on the roadside and within the property. The house is located on a dead end street which allows extra space for games as tennis etc.
Coast/Beach
We are almost on the beach! A short walk or bike ride away and you are on the beautiful Silver Coast. It is magnificent all year round. Golfers and Surfers come from all over the world. Its wonderful for long walks, shell collecting with the kids or just being close to the ocean, sunbathing and watching the waves.
The beautiful Obidos lagoon, Lagoa de Óbidos, (10 minute drive) stretches in from the Atlantic and is ideal for families and water sports.
Golf
The villa is situated by green 10 on the fabulous Praia D’el Rey resort and 18-hole golf course, arguably the most stunning in Europe. The golf course is located between the stunning Atlantic coast and the extensive pinewoods. Completed in 1998, the par 72, 6467 yard course has already become established as one of the very best in Europe. The course also offers a high quality golf academy, including driving range and short game practice area, and is always in great
condition with lush fairways and well manicured greens. The clubhouse, first tee
and driving range are all within a 7 minute walk. Golf clubs and buggies can be hired.
There are numerous other good courses in the area; Vimeiro (at Hotel Golfe Mar), Oitavos (at Quinta da Marinha), Penha Longa Atlantico, Belas Clube de Campo, Golden Eagle, CampoReal and the new Bom Successo, with more opening soon.
Special interest holidays
Praia D'el Rey's children's club "Clube Aventura" (up to 16 years old) offers outdoor activities including surfing, bodyboarding, quad biking, paintball, archery, kayaking and beach/sports games. Family excursions and activities are also available. Bookable through "Clube Aventura" next to the club house.
Seven tennis courts, coaching available, five minutes walk from villa. Obidos (UNESCO World Heritage site 15-20 minutes drive) is a medieval walled town with cobbled streets, castle and plenty of craft/gift shops, restaurants and bars. Peniche and Baleal (10-15 minutes drive) are popular family beaches and surfing spots with seafood restaurants. The aqua park (seasonal) at Peniche (10 minutes drive) and go-karting at Dinokart near Lourinha (20 minutes drives) are both great fun. Caldas da Rainha (15-20 minutes drive) boasts a daily food market, ceramics museum, restaurants and comprehensive shopping facilities. Lisbon, the vibrant capital city of Portugal, is one hours drive.
Travel
The nearest airport is Lisbon which is under an hours drive to Praia D’el Rey. Car hire is advisable. Transfer by taxi easy to pre book.
Lisbon is well served by both scheduled airlines and low cost airlines: Air Portugal (TAP) fly from Stockholm, London Gatwick/Heathrow and most European cities. BA offers flights daily flights from London Heathrow. Easyjet fly daily from London Luton and Gatwick.
Porto is an alternative airport and is about two hours and 30 minutes drive.
Distances
Obidos (World Heritage site 15-20 minutes drive) is a medieval walled town with cobbled streets, castle and plenty of craft/gift shops, restaurants and bars. Chocolate Festival in February, Medieval Fair in July and a Christmas Fair in December.
Peniche and Baleal (10-15 minutes drive) are popular family beaches and surfing spots with seafood restaurants.
The aqua park (seasonal) at Peniche (10 minutes drive) and go-karting at Dinokart near Lourinha (20 minutes drives) are both great fun.
Further details
The beautiful Obidos lagoon, Lagoa de Óbidos, (10 minute drive) stretches in from the Atlantic and is ideal for families and water sports. Near Foz do Arelho (north side of Obidos Lagoon) an array of water activities are on offer including: windsurfing, kitesurfing, canoeing, wakeboarding and water skiing.
The sandy surfing beaches of Baleal and Peniche are both a 10-15 minute drive and offer lessons in surfing, kite or windsurfing and jet skiing. You can catch a boat (seasonal) from Peniche to the Berlenga islands, a national marine nature reserve, and scuba dive.
There is also a horse riding school in Obidos (UNESCO World Heritage site 15-20 minutes drive) that offer horse riding, horse jumping and lessons through Equestrian Association "Cavalo de Obidos".
Ancient town of Sintra, UNESCO World Heritage town, famous for its 15th century palace and Leiria, with its fortified castle built 12th century are both within an hours drive.
The great abbeys of Batalha and Alcobaça and the well known shrine of Fátima are all within an easy drive of the villa.

A non-refundable 25% deposit secures your booking. Balance payable eight weeks prior to stay. In addition a breakages deposit of €350 is added to your final payment to cover any damages or breakages during your stay. This will be refunded after the end of your rental period provided no breakages or damages have occurred (subject to satisfactory property inspection). Payments can be made in Swedish kronor (SEK) or Euros (€) subject to exchange rates. Exchange rate used at the time of booking.

About the owner
Dear guests! We live in Sweden, Stockholm, with our three children. My husband and I both work, foremost in Stockholm but we love to spend time abroad and travel to see new places and experience new cultures. We love the ocean, we sail and go boating in Sweden, we all enjoy friends and sports but need the contrasts of a calm life with good literature and good cooking. Our Portuguese house gives us wonderful vacations in a great climate. We put alot of energy to make our houses attractive but not too personal. A bit like staying in a nice hotel. We want guests and people that rent our house to feel welcome, and get the most out of their vacation but also to treat our home like if it were their own.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought our beautiful second home in Portugal at the resort of Praya dél Rey after having visited the place 3 times for vacation. The weather has always been perfect; not too hot during the summers, warm and beautiful in November as well as in May and perfect wintertime for golfers or experiencing the beautiful regions of Portugal's Silver coast. The resort give us and our children the possibility to do sports together. We love playing tennis and golf with the kids and of course we spend lots of time on the magnificent beach and nearby laguna. Morning walks, collecting sea shells, building sandcastles and watching sunsets. We are looking forward to try all that the club adventura on the resort has to offer (riding, surfing, dolphin watching, kite surfing, kids-club, football etc).

The villa is surrounded by a beautiful private garden, 8 x 4m private swimming pool, substantial terracing including alfresco terrace with brick barbeque ideal for outside dining and patio that enjoys all day sun. Garden furniture includes dining table with seating for six, parasol and four sun loungers. There is no rush to leave the house! It is elegantly furnished and very spacious to suit a group of friends as well as a larger family for vacation, golf or just a special celebration. We love Praia dél Rey because of the fantastic facilities at the resort and the great range of beautiful places to visit outside the resort. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible and within an hours drive from Lisboa Airport.
