You will find Joia de Luz just outside the village of Moncarapacho, only 15 km away from Faro airport and about 4 km from the sea. This 3 bedroom villa with pool, built in a pleasant farmhouse style, is located in a quiet rural setting with sea views and neighbours a good distance away. Moncarapacho, with all its facilities, is walking distance and the area is very good for walking and exploring. Joia de Luz is also suitable for families with young children as it has toys, a play house and sandpit. The pool is fenced in to make is as safe as possible for the little ones. For those who like watersports; I am a kitesurf instructor and if you want you can do a course with me and for the others I have 6 kayaks and 6 Stand Up Paddle boards with you can explore the natural parc "Ria Formosa". I also can take the whole family out for a trip with my restaured fishing boat. Enjoy the flora and fauna of this beautiful lagune. A sanctory for lots of birds.

Notes on prices
Prices are for property per week in euros. End cleaning fee is 65 euros. From November 2006 we charge electricity costs from 15 centimos per kilowatt and 200 euros/m3 for firewood for the open fireplace. Winter long term rentals more than 1 month 950euro/month.
Changeover day
Saturday is our favorit change over day but any other day is also possible The villa is available from 13.00 hours. Check out time is by 10.00 hours.

Notes on accommodation
Airco is fitted to make it as pleasant possible for you. The bedrooms are having the so called ‘Invertersystem’ to make the nights as comfortable as we can. Kitchen and living are also air conditioned. On top of that we have in the kitchen a beautiful wood burner and in the living an open fireplace to give you a romantic feeling in my lovely house.
Accessibility
The house is suitable for wheelchairs but not specifically prepared. The surroundings I would say is not very suitable for wheelchairs. We have cobblestone terraces and the pool is not so easy to reach with a wheelchair.
Outside
Joia de Luz is set on 5000sq.m of land, part of which is turned into a garden. The children will enjoy themselves with the play house and the sand-box. The 9 x 4m kidney shaped pool with a small pond at the side is partly fenced in, to make it as safe as possible for young children. There are 6 sunbeds and enough outside chairs. From the kitchen you walk on to the terrace with the barbecue area and pizza oven with outside table and chairs.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is Fuzeta, about 4km, where you can take the ferry to cross the lagoon. A little further is pedras del Rei where a little diesel train takes you through the natural parc to the beach. The beaches from Manta Rota are wide and you can have long distance walks on the white clean sand.
Golf
Golfing in the Algarve is very popular and the most famous is the one in vilamoura. Vilamoura is on a distance of 25 km but in the east-algarve we have also a couple of 9 holes courses.
Special interest holidays
From the year 2009 we can offer you special packages in where we can offer you a boattour with our restaured portugues fishingboat on the lagune or we could go for a fishingtrip on the ocean. We recently bought kayaks which you can rent so you can enjoin goiing on the ria Formosa (natural parc) and have the most beautiful day watching flamingos, storches etc and with luck you can see the little seehorses which are only on 3 places left in the whole world. And last but not least we can take you on a tour with our 2 master antique sailingboat and you will see portugal in a different way like no tourist has seen it before. If you like walking we also posses a little hutt in the mountains where we can take you for a walk and where you can swim in a local river and to feel the happiness of being out far away in the innlands and still see the ocean over the hilltops nipping from your wine and having lunch on the terrace. I am a kitesurf instructor so if you want book a course with me.
Travel
Airport: 25km (Faro).
Distances
The house is on only 20 min.distance from Faro where you can do some different shopping for people who like to do that. More near is Olhao with its new marina and restaurated fish markets. Here you can see what the fisherman catch when they are out in the nights on the ocean. Olhao is also known for his cubistic house style in the old town. More to the East is the beautiful village Tavira with its 16 churches and several old buildings.
Further details
From Joia de Luz you can walk into the village of Moncarapacho. It is only a 10 min walk to the centre of town, even though it will be very dark at night! We will supply you with a list of restaurants, bars, etc., who we think are good places to go to. Fuzeta (4km) is definitely worth visiting. Enjoy a warm summer evening at the village square, where the Portuguese meet for a drink, a bite and a chat. Olhao (approx. 7km) is famous for its fish market, where the locals sell their catch of the day. There is a large selection of good restaurants.
Towards the east you can visit Tavira whee a river with an old Roman bridge divides the city in half. Spain, with a good selection of golf courses just over the border, is only 30 km away.

About the owner
My name is Otto(53) and I'm from Holland, Amsterdam.
I live here in portugal nearly 23 years and I am father of 3 sons. With my wife we take care of 6 children. We both had an adventures live till we settled in the area from Moncarapacho. I'm a man from many professions; after being a nurse for 17 years I started the first pizzaria in the east algarve but already after 3 years I sold my place to build the house where you will stay in if you rent my property. At the moment I'm working as a builder, and for the summer month I also organice boattrips with my beautifull restaured fissing boat. As a licensed kitesurf instructor I can teach you in the warm waters from the lagoon of fuzeta. Or if you want you can rent one of my 6 kayaks or enjoy walking on water with 1 of my stand up paddleboard

Why the owner chose a home in this location
This part of the Algarve is still very portuguese and I loved to be among the locals. The area has many potentials because on one side you have the lagoon and the islands. You can go quiet in the lagoon and enjoy the flora and fauna from the natural parc 'Ria Formosa' but if you go one the side of the ocean you can have the big waves very good for surfing. And only on 15 km from the beach you enter the hillsides where hardly any tourist is coming. Beautifull walks and especially in the winter (with its soft temperatures) you can see a lot of wildlife, little waterfalls and running water.
Unique benefits of the property
A beautiful house build by myself with a lot of love. We lived there ourselves till we moved some 6 years ago to our new house. I kept the house in the style as I lived there myself. I left the house as it was with all the charm I like. But I kept on changing to better quality and now I have 4 bedrooms with own bathroom, I build a large sauna, a pizza oven and all rooms have their air-co. My house is on walking distance from the village of moncarapacho where you can get everything you want. The bakery is on half a mile and the beach is some 4 miles. Because of safety I fenced in the pool with a fence or flowerbeds to make your holidays without any sorrows for them to fall in the pool. Children can play on my property and there is a lot to see in the garden. 17 weeks are re-booked.
