Salsalito is a 'Boutique style mini hotel' that has been lovingly, designed and built by Ralph and Sally Eveleigh. Enjoyed for its privacy and seclusion (Only children 14 years & over are welcome). Every morning breakfast is served on the top terrace. There is a kitchen-barbecue with a spacious patio set in the grounds,which is shared by the 4 bedrooms, all with their own fridge and cupboard. Salsalito is 1 minute by car from the charming fishing village of Burgau. The tropical gardens are surrounded by spacious terraces, all overlooking the pool encased by a rock waterfall. Hammocks swing between the shaded palm trees. 4 double bedrooms, Salsalito has a mixture of Moroccan, Portuguese decor. Ralph an engineer by trade, also is part owner of the Beach Bar Burgau and Smuggler's Bar. In the 70's, Sally worked with fashion designer Bill Gibb & ran his shop in London's Bond Street. For 20 years she had run her own Fashion Boutique in Praia da Luz and now has a mini Boutique at Salsalito.

Changeover day
Flexible. Arrivals after midday,but luggage can be left.
Departures from rooms by 10.30 am, luggage can be left,there is a shower and WC facilitiy for guests booked on later flights.
Notes on accommodation
All bedrooms have air-conditioning, wireless internet, hairdryers, Satellite TV-DVD, tea and coffee facilities,bottled water.Daily maid service. All linen and towels supplied. Towels are also supplied for the pool area & for the beach.
Free private parking.
Each bedroom sleeps maximum, 2 Guests.
For insurance purposes, children under 14 years old are not accepted.
To avoid disappointment, it is recommended to book Beauty and massage treatments in advance.

Outside
A walk-in Solar heated swimming pool 14.50m x 6m with Jacuzzi style bubble seat.
The lower terrace around the pool consists of 6 sunbeds,3 sunshades,Gazebo with a sofa & 2 armchairs.
Their are 2 more gazebos set in the grounds,1 is used for massage and beauty treatments.
The Santa Fe room is set overlooking the pool,with its own private outside area,consisting of 2 sunbeds, sofa, table & chairs,also a separate private entrance and parking.
The top terrace is shaded by bougainvillaea, and has a large wooden table and chairs seating 8 people +2 tables with seating for 4.
Behind the Swimming pool there is a shared fully equipped kitchen, (each room has their own fridge and cupboard), leading onto a terrace with tables, chairs,sunshades,2 bar stools,a CD player and a Barbecue.
There are Hammocks scattered amongst the shaded trees.
Tucked away in the grounds is a Gazebo for Acupuncture,Beauty & Massage treatments ,weather permiting,otherwise treatments are arranged inside Salsalito
Coast/Beach
Burgau Beach (1 min by car, 10 mins walk) a horse shoe sandy bay. The famous Beach Bar is renowned for its friendly atmosphere & staff. Enjoy relaxing on the terrace, while sipping a glass of sangria & sampling the locally caught fish. As you leave Burgau & drive towards Sagres (30 mins) stop & explore all the lovely sandy beaches, then continue up to the remote west coast (40 mins) renowned for the wonderful surfing and beaches.

There are 4 famous international golf courses close by. Parque da Floresta, 10 mins. Boa Vista 10 mins. Palmares 15 mins.

Travel
Faro airport is now only 1 hour drive to Burgau. Lisbon airport is approximately 2 1/2 hours drive. Seville airport in Spain 3 hours.
There are various transport companies from Faro to Salsalito, 47 euros return per person, although they do drop offs to other holiday resorts along the way, so it can take longer.
Distances
Praia Da Luz is 5 minutes by car, with a variety of restaurants & bars. The historical town of Lagos with fabulous shops, market, bars, restaurants and Marina is approx. 10 mins by car. The most south westerly point in Europe, Sagres, is approx. 15 mins by car and then make your way up to the deserted sandy beaches along the west coast.
A day out to the Monchique mountains is a must, sample the local chicken piri piri & visit the historical town of Silves, both approx 50 mins by car.
Further details
The charming fishing village of Burgau is tucked away, overlooking the beach and beach bar, built on a hillside, its fishermen´s white washed houses tumble down narrow cobbled streets towards the horse shoe bay. You can watch the fishermen mending their nets and launching their boats for the evening catch.
Burgau has 18 restaurants,the cuisine is from Portuguese, Indian, Pizzerias to International cuisine all serving locally caught fish, also a wide range of friendly Bars, some specializing on Sky sports with wide screen TV.
There are several small supermarkets,newspaper shop, a cash point machine, souvenir shops and a local market.
Luz has from Indian, Chinese, Pizzas to local cuisine with lots of bars and a Disco. Cash points in Burgau and Praia Da Luz. Banks are in Praia Da Luz and Lagos. Shops, beach, restaurants and bars all within a 10 minute walk.
Only 25 minutes from Salsalito, Autodrome Racing Circuit.

About the owner
Ralph an engineer by trade has a building company and is part owner of the famous Beach Bar Burgau &
Smugglers bar. Sally who in the 60's worked with "Elle fashion group" was head hunted to work with "Bill Gibb" and open his Fashion Designer shop in London's Bond Street in the mid 70's. She then moved to the Algarve, married Ralph, helped run the Beach Bar & taught water skiing. In the mid 80's Ralph built & Sally designed & ran "Smugglers Bar". For 20 years she opened a Boutique in Praia da luz until 2009, but is now concentrating on Salsalito also organizing Wedding & Party Venues at Salsalito. They both enjoy their 3 dogs & chickens (no cockerels!). Life is very relaxed, friends pop in for a sundowner and guests get to meet the local characters.

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
We fell in love with the land in the early 80's, very private, but in walking distance to Burgau, away from the noise of late night drinkers and our work at the time. So we bought the land, designed and built the shell, then unfortunately due to the recession, we ran out of money! Ralph's sister, Jenny, suggested with the rooms they had finished, they start up a Bed & Breakfast That is how they suddenly came into sharing their dream home with people from around the world.
With over 3 acres of field, no trees, Ralph started planting. We strongly feel that Salsalito is a home to be shared and loved by everyone, it is allot of upkeep each year, but that also can be fun. We have met and made some wonderful friends, held Weddings, Birthdays and Anniversary parties and still do.
