The villa is set in 2 acres of peaceful rolling countryside with lovely views. Fantastically equipped with all you need for a relaxing holiday. The south facing 9x5 swimming pool is edged by a large terrace and BBQ area for sunbathing, relaxing and outside dining. Wake to the sound of birdsong and partridges scuttling across the terrace, breakfast outside surrounded by olive, carob and fruit trees with nothing obstructing your view. Tavira and its charms are a short 10 minute drive away, as are the beaches and golf courses, across from the villa is a small country hotel with a great restaurant and a tennis court. Changeover day
There is no set changeover day, we are flexible to your requirements.

Notes on accommodation
The house is our home away from home and we have tried to make it as comfortable as possible. All the windows have fly screens, and because of the high ceilings we haven't found the need for air-con. All the bedroom have quiet room fans, and the shutters allow for sleeping with the windows wide open. The pool has unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside and will therefore require constant supervision of children.
Accessibility
The house is accessed by goods roads except for the last 100ms or so, when it turns into a track. Everything around the house is on the flat and accessible.
Outside
Large terrace, BBQ, outside furniture- table, chairs, loungers, brollies. The outside is spectacularly lit at night, but you may want to leave them off to see the breathtaking night sky.
Coast/Beach
There are several beaches close by (10-15 minutes by car), Tavira beach is a short ferry ride away with lots of bars and restaurants. The beach at Santa Luzia is reached on foot or by a sweet little train ride. A little further afield is the beach at Manta Rota which is HUGE and stretches all the way to Spain with excellent car parking and facilities. Or my personal favourite- Fabrica, no facilities, a boat ride, pure clean sand and water, warm pools and clam picking.
Golf
Several golf courses close by, Benamor, Monte Rei, Quinta da Ria etc. 8 half an hour or less to drive to if you head towards Spain, more if you cross the boarder. Head west and you have Villamoura about 40 minutes away. As a golfer I have played many of them, they are all very well kept and a joy to play. Some do require a handicap certificate. Clubs can be hired at most of the courses and there is now a hire shop at Faro airport offering a weeks hire for 35 euros (2010 price), good sets too.
Travel
Faro airport is only 30-40 minutes away. Hiring a car is essential - we always use Argus car hire to find the cheapest option.
Distances
10 minutes into Tavira with all its facilities, 8 minutes into Santa Catarina where there is a small supermarket, cafes and restaurant. Herdade da Corte (a small hotel) is across the way with a bar and restaurant open to the public.
Further details
Tavira is a living working town, it doesn't shut down in winter, and it has been sympathetically restored and retains its Algarvian charm and beauty. There are plenty of excellent restaurants, cafes and a fantastic summer programme with free open air concerts in the town square. The local council is providing something unique - culture and promotion of local skills and talent. There is only one night club and its set on the outskirts of town if that's your scene! Plenty of shops, a new shopping centre and cinemas showing English speaking films for the rare rainy day. The surrounding marshes of the Ria Formosa national park are a bird lovers delight, as well as offering walking, fishing and cycling opportunities.

Please contact us for available dates. A 25% deposit will be required to secure the property and the balance 8 weeks prior to arrival. We will also ask for a small returnable sum in case of breakages. Short or long breaks can be arranged. Well behaved pets welcome at our discretion, please contact us.

About the owner
I live in England with my wife and our dog, a Westie called Nessy. We have 2 grown up sons, both at university, one trying to become the next Steven Spielberg and the other a mechanical engineer. We fell in love with the Eastern Algarve on our first visit 5 years ago, so much we decided to property hunt almost immediately.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
The Property is a new build completed in the spring of 2009.
Is is about 5 minutes car ride outside Tavira situated in quiet rural area, but only 10 - 15 mins from beaches, some of which run all the way to the Spanish border.
While the area is up and coming it has not been over developed and still has that lovely laid back feel that the Western Algarve used to have. Tavira is a working town and not just for holiday makers so there is life in the winter months as well.
After landing at Faro airport it is only a 30 minute drive to the house along a usually deserted motorway, a joy after the congestion of the UK.
While it is in a rural area we do have neighbours, so there is never the feel of being cut off from civilisation.
Unique benefits of the property
The rural area is quiet, but you are still close enough to Tavira for shopping and cafe life when needed as well as good restaurants for all tastes and pockets.
The house has a swimming pool so you don't have to venture to the beech if you don't want to.
There is plenty of bird life as well as hares, and wild boar for nature lovers.
For astrologists the lack of light pollution allows you to wonder at the stars and be amazed at just how many there are.
There are all the usual pastimes you would expect of the Algarve, golf, tennis, walking, fantastic sandy beaches that stretch for miles, local restaurants several just minutes away.
