A 3 minute walk to the beach, this beautifully restored cottage is a wonderful place to stay. It offers both character and modern amenities. With exceptionally comfortable accommodation the cottage is very well equipped for self catering ideally for 4 but can accommodate up to 6, and is an ideal location from which to enjoy your holiday. Sagres is known locally as The End of the World. Surrounded by the sea it has both West and South coasts. An incredible area to explore right in the heart of the Costa Vicentina National Park. Among the countless activities to enjoy locally are surfing, walking, bird watching, windsurfing, dolphin trips, scuba diving, cycling, blo-karting, horse riding and snorkeling.

Prices are for the property per night. There is a minimum 3 night stay except for peak season (July/August) when the minimum stay is 5 nights.
Changeover day
There is no specific changeover day. Please check the availability calendar for available dates.
Arrival time 3pm. Departure time 11am.
| Bedrooms: | Bedroom 1 has a large double bed, a light airy room with a wooden floor and exposed beamed ceiling. Bedroom 2 upstairs has two single beds with a wooden floor and ceiling. There is also a large and very comfortable double sofa bed in the living area. |
| Bathrooms: | Bathroom 1 has mosaic tiled walls, a large enclosed sunken shower, WC and basin. Bathroom 2 has a bath with shower over, WC and basin. Inbuilt mirror, tiled with inlaid mosaic squares. Both bathrooms are supplied with plenty of solar heated water. |
| Kitchen: | Superb hand built wooden kitchen with oak worktop. Inbuilt modern electric hob with fan assisted oven under, extractor hood above. Fridge, kettle, toaster, cafetiere. Cooking utensils, t-towel, fully equipped for up to 6 people self-catering. |
| Living Rooms: | The main living area has a high wooden ceiling and terracotta tiled floor. There is a large comfortable sofa(can be used as double bed)and a huge bean bag. A flat screen TV for watching films, a DVD player, some DVDs are provided, a stereo with iPod dock. |
| Other: | Within the main living area is a wooden dining table and chairs for 6. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
All linen and towels are provided for guests, except for beach towels. The cottage is cleaned at the end of the stay. For long stays it is possible to change the linen and towels. |

Notes on accommodation
Tonel cottage is no smoking inside. The accommodation is not suitable for large groups of singles. A travel cot is available on request. Sorry no pets.
Accessibility
There is a modern alternate tread staircase to access the upstairs bedroom which may not be suitable for very small children.
Outside
Directly outside the cottage is a very pleasant seating area with a table and chairs. This area opens to a very charming and recently completed private patio garden with a built in sofa, a wooden table and chairs ideal for outdoor dining, a BBQ and lovely sub-tropical plants.
Coast/Beach
The closest beach is Praia do Tonel, a three minute walk from the cottage. Exposed to Western swells it can get good waves and is famed for surfing. Exhilarating for a dip or to practice body surfing. Lifeguards are on duty in the summer. A ten minute walk takes you to Mareta beach, more sheltered on the South coast. An extremely beautiful bay, it is perfect for swimming, snorkelling and very occasionally surfing. In easy driving distance are 10/20 other stunning west or south coast beaches.
Travel
Faro Airport is the major airport serving the Algarve. It is one and a half hour's driving distance away from Sagres. Car hire is highly recommended to access the fantastic area surrounding Sagres and to fully enjoy your trip. Train and/or bus services run from Faro to Lagos. It is possible to take a bus on to Sagres from Lagos, or a taxi. Lisbon is approximately 3 to 4 hours drive distant.
Distances
Sagres town centre is a 5 minute stroll from the cottage. Vila do Bispo 10 minute drive. Lagos 25 min drive. Aljezur 1 hr drive. Faro 1 hour 30 min drive. Lisbon 3 to 4 hour approx drive.
Further details
Sagres provides a great choice of restaurants, bars and cafe's, many of which have free internet access and computers available to use for the price of a coffee or juice. There are many local seafood delicacies to enjoy as well as local wines and fire water known as Medronio, drink it at your peril! Sagres has a bank, post office, 2 chemists, a tourismo (tourist office), fishing and hardware store, a daily market ideal for fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a large Intermarche supermarket, one mini mart, a bakery, 4 surf shops, bicycle, surf board and wetsuit hire, and 2 filling stations. From the port you can take dolphin and sealife watching trips, scenic boat trips, fishing trips and/or scuba diving trips.

A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total is required at the time of booking. A minimum of 3 nights stay except in peak season (July/August).

About the owner
We are originally from Cornwall and settled in Sagres in 2007. It is a fantastic place. We keep busy here looking after the cottage and the studio, and spend our spare time surfing, walking and kiting on the many varied and fabulous beaches in the area. We enjoy meeting new people all the time and are here to welcome new arrivals. Happy holidays!
