Just over an hours easy drive west from Faro airport, just off the main road, lies the village of Figueira where Casa Chrisinga 19 QDA is set within a small development of 27 houses with parking, clustered around landscaped gardens, a shared, gated heated swimming pool and separate children's pool. It provides a peaceful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but on the edge of many excellent facilities, including the Parque da Floresta golf, spa and leisure resort (our guests enjoy 40% reduction on green fees). Figueira has 2 friendly restaurants and 2 food shops, with the well stocked supermarket in Budens only a short distance away. Figueira beach is unspoilt and reached by foot in 20 mins. A 5 min drive brings you to Salema, a colourful fishing village with many restaurants all providing fresh fish and shellfish. The beach is very suitable for small children. A haven for walks but a car is recommended to explore the rugged spectacular beaches of the West Coast.

Notes on accommodation
The property benefits from a legal Tourist Licence (alojamento local) awarded by the local council in Vila do Bispo. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the property. Oil filled electric radiators are provided for winter use in the bedrooms and there is a wall heater and wood burning stove in the sitting room. A stair gate is available on request for children. Please note the shared pool is not supervised. For safety reasons glassware should not be used at the pool and the pool gate should remain closed at all times. A key is provided. Internet access is available at Parque da Floresta reception or in nearby Salema.

Accessibility
Layout of the house is not suitable for wheelchair users or those unable to climb stairs.

Outside
The very spacious ground floor terrace which enjoys all day sun is hedged on both sides for maximum privacy and has a built in barbecue, sun loungers, table, chairs and umbrella. Upstairs terrace has table and chairs and umbrella for alfresco dining and enjoys panoramic views and spectacular sunsets. A gated spiral staircase leads down to the bottom terrace. The 2 pools, one (5 x 4m), the other a children's pool), only metres from the house are heated from March to October and have sun loungers, parasols and a shaded area with chairs and tables. There is a toilet block and showers. The pool area is gated.

Coast/Beach
Figueira beach is a 1km footpath walk from the village. South facing Salema fishing village and beach 2km. Ingrina and Zavial 4-5km SW on back road from Figueira. Both have excellent beach restaurants. Excellent surfing beaches at Zavial and onwards towards the West Coast, Amado and Bordeira beaches are very popular. Praia de Luz resort with water sports 5km east. Lagos 16km east. Busy buzzy cosmopolitan town of historical interest and fantastic horseshoe beach. Good nightlife.

Golf
Many golf courses close by. The nearest is Parque da Floresta 1km away (Our guests enjoy 40% discount on green fees at PDF). Boavista Palmaries Penina within 30 mins drive East. Morgardo close to Monchique is well worth a visit just a little further away.

Travel
Faro airport is 100km to the East. Driving time approx 1 hr. Car hire can be arranged if required. A route to the house is sent with booking. Good local bus service. Train service from Lagos to Faro or to Lisbon.

Distances
Figuiera village 200m. Salema village 2km (Dinosaur footprint fossils on the beach). Lagos 16km. Cape St Vincent furthest point of SW Europe 16km.

Further details
2 small shops in village. 2 friendly restaurants. Well stocked supermarket in Budens 2km east many more in Praia de Luz and Lagos. Many excellent restaurants within 10km radius. Surfing, Boat trips Dolphin watching. Zoo Marine at Guia where you can swim with dolphins. A wonderful experience. I have done it! Currency exchange and internet access at Parque de Floresta reception. Banks at nearby Vila do Bispo or Lagos. Local taxi service. Horse riding nearby.

The Western Algarve is famous for wild flowers in the spring. Almond blossom in February Mimosa Cistus wild orchids and acres of meadow flowers in March and April. The coastal road between Amado and Bordeira beaches on the West coast resembles a huge rock garden of flowers, some only found in that area. A sight to behold. So many things to do but you can just chill out, do nothing and enjoy the ambiance of this magnificent area.

About the owner
We are semi retired farmers and apple growers and have a Heritage Apple Orchard of over 350 different varieties which is open to the public during October each year. We try to spend as much time as we can in our house on the Quinta and have tried to furnish our house "home from home" for comfort.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We have had a property in Quinta da Aldeia for over 16 years. We found the development on a chance trip down to Cape St Vincent and had a puncture on the bridge going out of Figueira (that was before the village was by passed and the village street was the main road!). We fell in love with the old world charm. In 2008 we sold our 2 bedroom house and bought our present larger 3 bedroom house number 19. The fact we stayed on the Quinta is testimony to everything we have said about the area is true. Our little corner of paradise. As a family old and young, we all enjoy being there. From Faro to Figueira in just over the hour and then to our favourite restaurant in Salema for lunch on local seafood. What could be better! Away from the crowds but easily accessible to excellent facilities.

Unique benefits of the property
You could stay all day in the property and just take in the wonderful views and enjoy the sun without feeling bored. Just pop to the pool for a dip when you need to cool down, or walk to the village and indulge in the traditional houses and cobbled, donkey streets. Everything is at hand in the property. Well equipped and well serviced by the management team. You will feel secure that any problems can be solved with just a phone call to our property supervisor. What I am trying to say is - you are not in a resort, you are in a modern house on the edge of a very traditional Portuguese village where the local people are so friendly and helpful.
