The air-conditioned bedroom is located on the first floor, keeping it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The open plan living room and kitchen are on the ground floor. The 2 terrace plan benefits from the abundant Algarvian sunshine at different times of the day. The upper roof terrace is an added bonus and a great place to sip a glass of wine or a beer and top up your tan! All the attractions that entice holiday makers to Olhao are on the door step. The sea is about 4 minutes strole away as are the famous markets. The restaurants, coffee shops and bars are literally just around the corner, in fact, as everything is so convenient, you may decide that you do not need a car.

Portable radiator supplied. Air condirioning unit doubles up as heating unit in the bedroom.
Accessibility
As with most of the Olhao townhouses, the property has steep and narrow stairs. Please be aware of this if you have trouble walking up or downstairs.
Outside
Two roof terraces!
The first one adjoins the bedroom and has table and chairs. This gets sun and shade if you need to keep cool!
Walk up the wonderful iron spiral staircase to the upper terrace which gets sun almost all day long. On this terrace you will find two sun loungers to top up your tan.
Coast/Beach
Five minutes walk to the sea! Olhao has a new harbour with cobbled walkways taking you along its picturesque coastline. The beautiful unspoilt beaches on the car free islands of Armona and Farol are a short and inexpensive (less than four euros return in Jan 2009) ferry ride away. Alternatively a water taxi takes just 5 minutes. Other beaches in the area include the beautiful Faro beach that stretches for miles. It is about twenty minutes drive away.
Golf
Approximately 40 golf courses within half an hours drive. All the famous courses on the west are easily accessible. These include Vale de Lobo, San Lorenzo, Quinta de Lago and all the Villamoura courses. Golfers should consider the Eastern Algarve courses. These include Benamor, Quinta de Ria and Quinta de Cima and are twenty five minutes away. The Spanish border is also close by and has a number of good courses just over an hour away.
Travel
Faro airport is twenty minutes away. If you do not hire a car, taxis are on hand at the airport. (cost approximately 20 euros to get to Olhao). Olhao train station is a short walk from the house. You may consider taking the train to Lisbon and spending a day or two in the historic Portuguese capital.
Distances
The property is well located with everything you need for a great holiday on your doorstep. The street itself is quiet and unspoilt. Cars are not allowed down here so peace and quiet is all but guaranteed, yet within a two minute walk you can access many bars, restaurants and shops.
Further details
Olhao is famous for its cobbled walkways, as well as its daily fish market and dozens of shops. Numerous supermarkets are within easy walking distance. Restaurants in Olhao include traditional Portuguese, Indian, Chinese, Italian and pizza. In 2008 a new Spanish tapas restaurant opened. For the fast food junkies among you, Olhao even has a Mcdonalds! The local bank is less than a five minute walk away, as is the nearest chemist. Public parking is available within 30 yards of the house.

About the owner
Neil Dawson. Occupation; I am Head Golf Professional at Astbury Golf Club in Cheshire, UK. I operate a retail business so am able to take credit card bookings if required. I currently own and rent four properties in the olhao and pechao area. This 'pastime' started when I came across a really old derelict building that was for sale. I made an offer and the rest is history! It is such a great experience to see an old building knocked down and replaced with a vastly improved one! The olhao properties have all undertaken major renovation work (as apposed to a complete rebuild). It is a great experience and I would reccommend it to anyone.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
When I first visited this house, it was in a sorry old state. It was badly in need of a major renovation. The owner was never going to the job so I could not resist and bought the property before passing the renovation job on to a local builder. I also employed an english speaking project manager, who expertly handled the day to day issues that arise. This resulted in a totally stress free, ultimately very rewarding project.
Unique benefits of the property
A good deal of peace! The property is on a cobbled walkway with no cars allowed. Other than extremely freindly and chatty neighbours, the street is usually very quiet. You can walk to the harbour in about five minutes. Everything you need (bars, restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets) is within very easy walking distance.
