The sun terrace is fenced off and features a brick built barbecue that is covered by gazebo and a fantastic private swimming pool. The villa is perfect for that family holiday being so close to the beaches and major tourist attractions of the area whilst maintaining very tranquil surroundings. The property is situated on a small modern development attached to a small Portuguese village which will have some non disturbing work on going until 2011. The property is also 5 minutes drive from 2 of Europe's finest golf courses and within 10 minutes of Obidos which is a walled medieval town known as the jewel in the crown of the Silver Coast.

Outside
There is a large wooden garden table and 6 chairs for alfresco dining and features a brick built barbecue that is covered by gazebo and a fantastic private swimming pool. There are beanbags and sun loungers for sunbathing and a large umbrella is available. The pool is situated a the back of the villa and is fenced off from the road for added privacy and security.
Coast/Beach
The villa is 5 minutes from several stunning beaches with some of Europe's best surf right on the doorstep. The Silver Coast is littered with stunning views and beaches and many of them are easily accessible from the property as is the very scenic Obidos Lagoon. All types of beaches are close by including those popular for families, surfing and sunbathing.
Golf
The villa is 5 minutes drive from Praia D'el Rey which has 2 of Europe's top championship golf courses. The main stunning 18 hole championship golf course is ranked No. 1 in Portugal by Peugeot's 2003 Guide and 13th best in Europe by Golf World. The course has spectacular views over the Atlantic. Tee off times can be arranged in advance at Praia d'El Rey and there are at least 10 other quality 18 hole courses nearby. The Praia d'El Rey course is rigorously maintained to ensure excellent condition throughout the year. There is a pro-shop, driving range, and PGA tutors available to offer personal lessons to improve your game. There is an excellent driving range and the well equipped clubhouse provides both a la carte restaurant and bar menu, along with a relaxing lounge with large plasma TV. There are many other golf courses close by including Golden Eagle, Oitavas and Penha Longa all within 30 minutes drive.
Travel
Lisbon is the nearest airport and it takes around 40 minutes from airport to villa. Most of the journey is on a new European motorway (A8). Porto airport is around 2 hours away. Car hire is recommended although taxi's can be easily attained from Lisbon airport.
Distances
Obidos and Peniche are both 10 mins drive from the villa. Both towns offer a selection of restaurants, supermarkets, banks and shops. The village itself has a small shop for essentials and a small bar. Praia D'el Rey is 5 minutes away and offers a selection of alternate shops along with a stunning Marriott Hotel with all the usual facilities.
Further details
Once the wedding present for Portugal's queens, the preserved medieval town of Obidos lies 10 minutes away and is without doubt one of Portugals most classically walled settlements. Walking the ramparts, visitors can enjoy views of windmills, vineyards and surrounding farmlands. In the residential area below, narrow cobblestone streets are lined with whitewashed houses sporting terracotta roofs. The shops are piled high with local handicrafts, while in spring the town is ablaze with geraniums, morning glories and bougainvillaea.
Peniche is 10 minutes away and is part enclosed by 16th-century walls, Peniche is almost entirely dependent on the sea. Its fishing industry and port, fishermen, trawlers and seagulls mark the atmosphere of this town, with its whitewashed houses and narrow streets. No wonder it has excellent fish restaurants, also specializing in seafood and shellfish dishes, and that it affords the visitor facilities for deep-sea fishing. Tourists are also curious to visit the Fortaleza, a 16th-century fortress, overlooking the sea, that was used as a prison during the repressive former regime that ended in 1974.
Fatima (45 hour away) is one of the most important Marian centres of pilgrimage in the catholic world. The famous sanctuary of Fatima attracts thousands of pilgrims each year, specially on the 13th of May and the 13th of October, to celebrate the appearances of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children. The Cathedral is most impressive and was once recently visited by the Pope.
Praia Del Rey has a beautiful stretch of long sandy beach (10 minutes drive) which is excellent for surfing and walking. The beautiful Obidos Lagoon (10 min drive) stretches in from the Atlantic and is ideal for families and water sports. The sandy surfing beaches of Baleal and Peniche (10-15 min drive) are both well known and offer lessons in surfing, kite or windsurfing, jet skiing and banana boats.
Booking notes
A non refundable deposit of £150 is required at the time of booking. Full payment is required 6 weeks before the holiday start date. A refundable deposit for damages of £100 will be returned 1 week after departure.
