Changeover day
During peak periods the preferred changeover day is Saturday and guests should vacate the property by 10.00 am in order for it to be prepared for next guests. It may be occupied from 4.00 pm. It may be possible to be flexible on changeover day/time.

Notes on accommodation
The villa has integrated air-conditioning/heating throughout, with extra log burning fire in lounge. Folding single bed included, however occupancy should not exceed 7 persons. Cot/highchair available at extra cost. QDF 129 is strictly a non-smoking villa. No pets allowed either - sorry!
Accessibility
The villa has a ground floor en-suite bedroom which could be convenient for clients with mobility issues, however there are two small steps at the villa entrance.
Outside
Delightful private swimming pool (8x4m) with outside shower and 4 sun loungers. Pool heating available, if required, at extra cost (heating not necessary in summer). External dining area with barbecue grill, dining table and 6 chairs. Small private garden to rear with range of exotic plants and pine forest behind. There are other villas to each side (staggered to maximise privacy) but none in front to obstruct the wonderful sea views.
Coast/Beach
Quinta da Fortaleza is perfectly located right above the secluded sandy beach of Cabanas Velhas, with Boco do Rio beach also close by. Ideally placed for access to unspoilt picturesque fishing villages of Burgau and Salema with much of its traditional charm and long expanse of sandy beach. Surf school available at nearby Sagres or on dramatic West Coast surf beaches 20 mins drive. There are dozens of beaches nearby. Please contact owner should you require weblink addresses.
Golf
The nearest golf course is the spectacular Parque da Floresta 18 hole par 71 course where we are able to offer a discount of 30% on green fees. There are at least 7 good alternative courses within 30 mins drive, including Boavista and Palmares, with some links holes along Meia Praia Beach and 2 at Morgado.
Special interest holidays
The south west Algarve is less crowded than the rest of the Algarve and is a designated national park area.It's well suited to keen golfers, beach-goers, surfers, hill walkers, bird watchers and lovers of the outdoor life. Horse riding and other activities are also available nearby.
Travel
The nearest airport is at Faro. It's a little over one hour's drive to the property, most of which is on a good motorway. Given the location of the property, car hire is necessary to make the most of your holiday. Driving directions to the property will be provided. Lisbon is approximately 2.5 hours north by road.
Distances
There are many excellent restaurants in Burgau and Salema. Lagos is only 15 mins drive with its larger choice of restaurants/bars/shops and charming pedestrianised cobbled streets, displaying typical Moorish architecture. There is also a marina where big game fishing/dolphin watching/ boat hire is available. Cape St. Vincent, the most s.westerly point in Europe, is only 30 mins drive. Villa is a short walk to a lovely sandy beach/beach bar (free wifi). There are 2 good supermarkets nearby.
Further details
As Quinta da Fortaleza is part of the Vigia group you will have the advantage of all their facilities being available to you at the award winning nearby development of Parque da Floresta. A 10 min drive away is the spectacular 18 hole par 71 golf course. As well as the Vigia Golf Academy and driving range, you will also have the use of further swimming pools, tennis courts, the Mark McCarrick Football Academy, and kids clubs that run during the summer holidays for ages 4-16. Tuition for golf and tennis is available.
The PDF spa offers the perfect place to unwind with facial and body treatments. A steam room, sauna and spa pool are also available. For the more energetic, the facilities include a well-equipped air-conditioned gym and exercise studio. Parque da Floresta offers a wide range of dining facilities. Many other activities can be booked including experiencing the breathtaking unspoilt Western Algarve countryside on horseback. Undulating countryside is speckled with historic towns/villages untouched by time and fringed by a coastline of secluded coves.
The unique position of Quinta da Fortaleza within the heart of the unspoilt Western Algarve makes it ideal for walking. Whether you prefer a short stroll or a more challenging walk, being within the protected Costa Vicentina Nature Park provides outstanding coastal walks. Local attractions include water parks of Slide and Splash and Aqualand. There is a zoo on the outskirts of Lagos and Zoo Marine is near Albufeira.
The motorway, which is 15 mins away, gives you good access to all areas of the Algarve, whether you fancy a day shopping at Algarve Shopping at Guia or back to the well known golf courses at Quinta da Lago and Vilamoura. The inland areas of the Monchique Mountains provide an alternative view of the Algarve, where a drive through forests will lead you to roadside piri-piri restaurants and the Moorish town of Silves with its castle.

Deposit of 25% required on booking and balance 6 weeks before arrival. Refund policy will be advised when booking. A payment of £250 is also required to insure against damages/breakages and will be returned after the property has been checked. You will have the backup of the Vigia 24 hour service to handle any issues during your stay. QDF 129 is strictly a non-smoking property and no pets are allowed either - sorry!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We went on holiday to the Western Algarve for the first time in 2007 and immediately fell in love with the area. The beautiful scenery, amazing beaches, friendly people, and quiet, restful atmosphere was everything we were looking for. We soon thought how wonderful it would be to have a place out there.
When we saw the villa at Quinta da Fortaleza we were quite simply blown away and decided to buy it after only one short viewing.
Unique benefits of the property
The villa has stunning sea views from all the principal rooms. On top of that, it is newly built, of contemporary style, and is finished to a very high standard. Such villas are very hard to find!
The villa is set in a beautiful, quiet and protected area, with a pine forrest right behind and a gorgeous sandy beach below. It's also very close to everything you might want - amazing golf courses, quaint villages, lovely restaurants, excellent supermarkets etc. Nearby are Lagos marina, plenty of shops, and other exciting places to visit.
