Changeover day
Our preferred changeover day, especially in high & peak season, is Friday or Saturday however we can be flexible so please don't be put off enquiring because of this. Check-in is 4pm onwards and check-out is 10am but again we can sometimes be flexible.

Bedrooms 3 and 4 with twin beds. One with double doors to side garden 3 rooms are en-suite.
Bathrooms: En-suite to bedroom 1 has bath with shower attachment. Bidet, vanity/sink unit, WC and heated towel rail. Heated floor.
Bedrooms 2, 3 have en-suite showers, WC, hand basins and heated towel rails. With glass brick window. Heated floor.
Kitchen: Fully fitted granite work tops with microwave, double sink, dishwasher, oven /hob/extractor. Also washer/dryer, fridge/freezer. Dining area seating up to 8 at side of kitchen with stairs leading up to galleried area.
Living Rooms: Large open plan living area with three 3 seater sofas, flat screen television receiving cable. 40 options. Usual English TV channels (plus Sky news, sports including Setanta. and movie channels). DVD player. 2 double doors leading out to patio/pool area.
Other: Large upstairs galleried area with two double doors leading out to upstairs balcony. There are lovely views of surrounding countryside.

Notes on accommodation
This villa incorporates award winning environmentally-friendly design features, such as adobe bricks and the innovative low energy cooling system ensures the rooms stay a constant temperature all day. Please note entrance to the pool has, child proof locks on access gates. Also the pool uses saltwater system for purification so there is no bleaching of swimwear and uncomfortable eye problems are reduced.

Outside
There are poolside sun beds, 2 umbrellas and furniture available, water rings and other water/beach items for children. In addition there is furniture on the upstairs terraces to the villa. The pool is approximately 9 x 4m with access either ends and sitting area midway. Room to park two cars on driveway with a shaded wooden carport incorporated. There is also a free standing brick built BBQ.

Coast/Beach
3 minutes drive to the nearest sandy beach at Burgau. A number of sandy, beautiful and quiet beaches can be easily accessed by car and are all within 5-15 minutes drive. Salema, Luz, Zavial, Meia Preia, Figueira, Sagres, Martinal and Portos de Mos are all favourite and exclusive beaches. There are a number of beaches and coves around Lagos and many long sandy stretches to explore around the western coast of the Algarve.

Golf
The villa is perfectly located for golf courses, with Parque da Floresta and Boa Vista within 5-8 minutes drive of the villa, while others courses such as Palmares in Lagos (15 mins)and the wealth of the Algarve golf courses are all within 1 hour maximum drive.

Alma Verde offer special golf reductions at certain times of the year.

Special interest holidays
The open countryside is ideal for Rambling, Bird Watching and Horse Riding and, further inland, the ecology changes and the steeper hillsides provides unlimited challenges for mountain bikers.

For the more adventurous, there are opportunities for parasailing, paragliding and even learning to fly microlight aircraft. Scuba divers can explore caves and wrecks in the nearby coastal waters, and discover an abundance of sea life. Further up toward and above Sagres is great for surfers and there is a surf school available if you want a lesson or 2. In the villa itself is a pack which will give you ideas of what you can do in the area, as well as some local useful numbers, including a list of well tried restaurants.

Travel
Alma Verde Village & Spa is located 10 km West of Lagos and with the opening of the new motorway extension to the western Algarve, the journey time from Faro International Airport to Alma Verde is now under 60 minutes. Hiring a car is the preferred option to travel from the airport and around the Algarve. Alternatively a taxi can be used. Faro airport is accessed by airlines such as Ryanair, Monarch, EasyJet, Aer Lingus, BA and TAP Portugal provide flights.

Distances
Burgau is the nearest village only 3 minutes by car and along with Salema only 10 minutes away, both are picturesque fishing villages with beautiful sandy beaches. Luz another tourist hot spot in the area is only 10 minutes away, and Lagos the main shopping for shops, bars and restaurants and the marina is only 10-12 minutes away. Sagres the SW prominence is only 15 mins away and surrounded by numerous beaches. The Silver coast starts from here.

Further details
The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty, with traditional Portuguese culture wherever you look. Indeed the Alma Verde development fringes the protected Costa Vincentina Natural Park with its olive groves, fig trees, undulating hills and countryside. And of course there are miles of scenic walks and bicycle routes along the coastline. This is a recognized ornithologists paradise during the different seasons in the year. A short trip to the West is Europe's most westerly point - Cape St Vincent - well worth a trip to watch the sun go down! Over the spring period this area of Portuguese countryside is a delight of wild flowers with rock roses and, French lavenders to name a few. Nearby historic towns and fishing villages bustle with craft markets, restaurants and bars, and nightlife can be found in Lagos just a 10-15 min drive away. Great family days out can be enjoyed by all ages at the following pleasure parks: Zoomarine ocean theme park, near Guia (shown) has Dolphin, Sea Lions and Birds of Pray shows. Plus loads of rides including; log flume, roller coaster, Ferris wheel and a small water park with pool. There is also the opportunity to swim with Dolphins (pre-booking required). Waterparks - There are two large water parks nearby: Slide & Splash and The Big One both near Lagoa. The Western Algarve, particularly the western side of Lagos is blessed with some of Europe's best beaches, and the area around Alma Verde enjoys easy access (by car) to any number of quaint sandy beaches and coves, each served by delightful beachside bars and restaurants serving fresh seafood, together with a wide range of English and Portuguese dishes for adults and children.

Please enquire by email or phone letting us know the dates that you would like to go. To book we require 25% of the rent up front and then the remaining balance is due 8 weeks before your stay. Booking and cancellation conditions apply so please ask about these. We also take a £550 security deposit which covers any damages or extra costs incurred (if any) during your stay. You will be given a full inventory and if there are any changes or alterations please tell us straight away.

We are both retired professionals with adult offspring. We wanted to find a place, within easy travelling distance. Enjoyed France and Italy but the season was too short. Interests are walking, golfing,swimming, drinking good wine.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Ticked all the boxes. Travel time from Faro aiport only 1 hour. Very peaceful surroundings but only minutes from golf courses, beautiful beaches and good value restaurants. Portugese in this area are easy going and welcoming.

Unique benefits of the property
The Eco credentials of the building played hugh part in buying this property. The ambience of the villa makes it so pleasurable to live in. Not having air conditioning marvellous for anybody with chest problems/ Our position in this developement is very sheltered. An important consideration due to the wind factor here. The gardens are well developed and completely private at the rear. A wooden latticed carport provides welcome shade for car parking
