This large airy apartment is situated above a small bar in a unique location in the old part of the moorish fishing town of Olhao. Recently converted, it has kept its original facade including the hand painted tiles and the charming balcony from which you can just watch the world go by! It is situated on the sea front and has fabulous views over the sea, park and markets. Its huge 40sq.m living/dining room is very tastefully furnished and has plenty of comfortable seating as well as a pellet fire which makes the flat warm and cosy in the winter months. There is a brand new kitchen with all the mod cons including a large fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a 37" flat screen TV with all the satellite English channels, DVD player and a radio/CD player. We have 2 good sized bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, giving onto a large 40sq.m terrace with large jacuzzi, bbq, table and chairs and sofa and arm chairs perfect for relaxing in and drinking sun downers.

Changeover day
Saturdays during peak season otherwise flexible. You may arrive any time from 15.00 and you must leave by 10.00 am on the day of departure.

Notes on accommodation
There are fans in all rooms and a pellet fire in the living room which is nice and cosy for winter evenings!

Accessibility
As this is an old house, there is a very steep staircase to the apartment and it is therefore not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

Outside
Large 40sq.m terrace with sofa and armchairs, table and 6 chairs, bbq and large jacuzzi - ideal for outdoor living!

Coast/Beach
Frequent ferries and water taxis are just across the road to take you to the three islands of Armona, Culatra and Farol, where there are charming traditional fishing communities, restaurants and fabulous safe, sandy beaches stretching for miles. Much of the area is a nature reserve full of all kinds of sea birds an other creatures in a wonderfully tranquil and unspoilt setting. Fuseta beach is 5 minutes drive away from the apartment and a must is the train ride across the flats to Praia de Rey.

Golf
There are approximately 40 golf courses within half an hour's drive of the apartment. The ones east around Tavira (20 mins away) include Benamor, Quinta de Ria and Quinta de Cima and the ones west of Faro (30 mins away) include Vale de Lobo, San Lorenzo, Quinta de Lago and the Villamoura courses.

Travel
Faro airport is only 20 minutes away and you can get a taxi to the apartment for around 20 - 25 euros. Olhao train station is only a few minutes walk away and you can either take the train east and visit the interesting perched town of Tavira, go west, and visit the picturesque towns of Lagos and Portimao or even go further afield and visit the historic city of Lisbon (about 2.5 hrs away).

Distances
You can take a train to Faro approx 5kms) and visit the old walled town with its cobbled streets, shop at its large shopping mall, the Forum Algarve which boasts many designer shops or if you want to go a bit further afield there is a zoo marine, water parks and go carting within 30 mins drive.

Further details
Olhao, being a fishing village, has a wealth of fish restaurants (some will bbq the fish in front of you and let you eat as much as you like for around 7 euros) as well as Indian, Chinese and Italian. There is a fantastic bakery just around the corner as well as a supermarket and plenty of cashpoints. If you want to see English films you can go to the Forum Algarve where they show English films with Portuguese subtitles.

Booking notes
A deposit of 30% is required to make the booking and the balance is due 8 weeks before your holiday. A refundable breakages deposit of £300 is required and will be returned to you on your return, providing there have been no breakages!
