This penthouse apartment is less than 70 metres from the river Formosa. It has stunning views both along the river and out to sea. The apartment is in the village centre a short walk from lovely restaurants and local cafes. A small local bakery is less than 20 metres away. It is a two bedroom top (2nd) floor apartment in a small block (not on a large complex), with two large terraces and a stunning roof terrace with a truly panoramic outlook including lovely sea views. It is simply, yet tastefully decorated and is well furnished throughout, providing a very pleasant and comfortable stay. It has separately controlled air-conditioning/heating units to both bedrooms and the lounge. There is a small private parking area with an allocated space for the flat just in front of the apartment within the remote controlled security gates. An entry phone linking to the street can be operated from just inside the front door.

Notes on accommodation
The flat is in a small block of eight apartments in the centre of the old village. Strictly no smoking except on the terraces

Accessibility
The flat is on the 2nd floor, access by stairs only.

Outside
Two large terraces, both with table and chairs. The back terrace, reached from the bedrooms and kitchen, catches the morning sun. Four sun loungers supplied on the front terrace which has the afternoon sun. Very large roof terrace reached via a spiral staircase from the back terrace. This is quite private with all day sun and glorious panoramic views of the village and the sea. Parking area with allocated space (very rare in the village centre).

Coast/Beach
The beautiful beach, Praia de Cabanas, located on an island just offshore (Ilha de Cabanas), which belongs to Ria Formosa Natural Park. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the beach which is reached by a small ferry. There is a small cafe and showers/wc at the beach. You can walk long distances along the sand. The sea is safe for children, depending on weather conditions.

Golf
Course 1: Benamor - Par 71, 5500m (5 minute drive). Benamor is quickly gaining an excellent reputation amongst UK golfers.
Course 2: Quinta da Ria - Par 72, Championship 6,110m (10 minute drive). A newish course but has already established itself as one of the best courses on the Algarve, if not Portugal. This course has stunning views of the sea and mountains.
Course 3: Quinta de Cima - Par 72, Championship 6256m (10 minute drive). This course has been tipped as a Portuguese Open Venue.
Course 4: Monte Rei - Par 72, Championship 6030m (15 minute drive). A 5 star Jack Nicklaus course opened in 2007.
Course 5: Castro Marim - Par 71, 5265m (20 minute drive close to Spain). This course will appeal to novices and experts. Most enjoyable.

Travel
Faro is the nearest airport, about 40 minutes drive away. Car hire is not essential as you can reach the village by public transport or taxi and once at the flat you can reach local attractions by rail or bus, including day trips to Seville.

Distances
The flat is in Cabanas village. In Cabanas you can hire bicycles, practise kite surfing and enjoy some lovely walking in the local area. You'll find plenty of opportunities for activities (golf, cycling, walking, water sports etc), relaxation and places to visit. Spain is less than 30 minutes away by road or you can take a ferry from Vila Real de San Antonio on the Portuguese side of the Guardiana.
