Newly available for 2009, this comfortable fully furnished first floor apartment is available at a very good price. It's situated in an excellent location just a 5 minute walk from Lagos marina, with its sophisticated bars, restaurants and cafes and the adjacent fishing harbour with its simple seafood eateries. Over the river lies the quaint, historic town centre with plenty of boutiques and sites of interest within the maze of cobbled streets. The beautiful Meia Praia beach, that stretches for several kms along the coast, is only a 15 minute walk from the apartment. Surrounding the town lie many more glorious coves. For golfers, Palmares and Boavista courses are just a few minutes drive away. The property comprises 1 double bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen with a small balcony that has a spiral staircase leading to roof terrace with sea views and plenty of space for sun bathing, plus a large lounge/dining room with patio doors opening on to a covered terrace, ideal for alfresco dining!

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. The rates quoted are based on an occupancy of 2, additional guests are charged at £40 per person per week. Euro prices are:
October - May - €210.
June - €300.
July + August - €350.
September - €300.

Changeover day
The preferred changeover day is Saturday. This may be flexible, especially in early or late season. Check-in is not before 2.00pm and check-out is at 10.00am unless otherwise arranged.

Bedrooms: 1 bedroom with double bed and room for a cot.
Bathrooms: Bathroom with bath with overhead shower, toilet, sink and bidet. A hair dryer is provided.
Kitchen: The kitchen is equipped with a cooker, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine and microwave.
Living Rooms: The living room has a sofa-bed (suitable for one adult or 2 children) and a dining area. There is Sky satellite TV (free channels only) and cable TV, a DVD player and a small stereo. The adjacent covered terrace has a BBQ and table and chairs.
Other: Off the kitchen is a small balcony that has a spiral staircase leading to the roof terrace that has sea views and plenty of space for sunbathing. The terrace is not suitable for unsupervised children due to the narrow staircase and low walls.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
All bedding and linen are provided but beach towels should be brought with you. Linen is changed once per week and towels are changed twice per week. The apartment is cleaned once per week unless otherwise arranged.

Notes on accommodation
There is a fireplace in the lounge and logs can be arranged for a small extra cost for anyone visiting during the cooler months. Heaters can also be provided.

Accessibility
This apartment is on the first floor of a house with access via a flight of internal stairs, therefore the property is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.

Outside
There is no garden with this first floor apartment, however there is the covered terrace adjacent to the lounge with a large table and chairs, plus the sunny roof terrace. Please note that these areas are not suitable for unsupervised children.

Coast/Beach
Meia Praia, which is a long expanse of beautiful sandy beach, with several restaurants, is 1km away and an easy 15-20 minute walk. Lagos town lies at one end of this beach and a picturesque lagoon lies at the other end. Great for long walks! More than half a dozen coves surround Lagos and the peninsula offers some great coastal tracks. Further afield are the popular beach resorts of Luz, Burgau and Salema, followed by the unspoilt surfing beaches of Zavial, Cordoama and Castelejo further west.

Golf
There are several excellent golf courses within a 20 minute drive of this property. Palmares, over-looking Meia Praia beach is the closest at just a 5 minute drive away. 10 minutes away, just on the other side of Lagos is the Boavista golf course. The renowned Penina course is 15 minutes away and finally, Parque da Floresta, with it's excellent facilities including the spa and tennis, is 20 minutes drive west of Lagos.

Travel
The nearest airport is at Faro, 75kms away (1 hours drive). Car hire is not essential for this property, though it's worthwhile if you want to see more of the beautiful Algarve. Trains run from Faro centre to Lagos. You will have to catch a bus or a taxi from the airport to the train station. It is then approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to Lagos. The apartment is a 10 minute walk from Lagos train station. Alternatively there are companies operating bus and minibus transfer services.

Distances
Meia Praia beach is 1km away. Lagos marina is 850m away. Lagos town centre is 1.5kms away. The westerly town of Sagres is 31kms away and Cape St. Vincent (known as 'the end of the world') is 37kms. The west coast beaches of Castelejo and Cordoama are 25kms away and the beautiful Monchique mountains are 38kms away.

Further details
Amenities in the near vicinity include the large 'Pingo Doce' supermarket just 800 metres away. The nearest cafe and restaurant (cheap and cheerful) is just 600 metres. There are also some lovely country walks near by. There is live music at the marina most weekends. From the marina you can book fantastic activities such as sailing trips, trips to see the grottoes, dolphin watching trips, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, etc. The town centre is very cosmopolitan with a huge choice of restaurants and many lively bars and outdoor cafes. A calendar of live entertainment goes on throughout the summer months. The historic sites in the town include the old slave market (now an art gallery), the 'golden chapel' of St. Anthony and the fort next to the old town walls guarding the entrance to the river. There is a traditional fruit and veg market every Saturday morning just across the river from the marina and the fish market in the town centre is open 6 mornings per week. There is also a large gypsy market held on the first Saturday morning of each month, near to Pingo Doce supermarket. A little further afield, but within a 30 minute drive, the Western Algarve offers the autodrome racing circuit, the stunning pretty Monchique mountains with fantastic views from the highest point at Foia (903 metres) and the spa village of Caldas da Monchique, the excellent Slide and Splash water park, Lagos zoo, wine tasting, horse riding, walking, cycling, bird watching, golf and the unspoilt beauty of the Costa Vincentina Natural Park. There really is something for everyone!

The rates quoted are based on an occupancy of 2, additional guests are charged at £40 per person per week. A 20% deposit (non-refundable) is due on booking and the balance plus a £150 refundable damages deposit is to be paid 8 weeks prior to the arrival date. In case of late bookings, the full amount is payable on booking. Rates are negotiable for longer stays. We can accept payment in Pounds or Euros (by cheque or bank transfer).
