Notes on accommodation
Ideal family home with provision of free standing radiators for heating in the cooler month and fans in the hotter months.
Accessibility
Has not been adapted for wheelchairs as all bedrooms are on the first floor. The house is not ideal for children under 5 years as there are no facilities for cot/highchair/safety stair gate and guests/parents will have to accept sole responsibility for lack of these amenities if intending to rent.
Outside
Patio area to rear of property with portable BBQ and outdoor furniture. Patio area to the front with space for off-street car parking.
Coast/Beach
Monte Gordo Resort is approx 5 mins drive. Further along the coast (approx 7 -10 mins drive) is Pria Verde Beach with its beach restaurant.
Golf
Castro Marim has 2 golf courses (one of which is the Castro Marim Golf Club) which is approx 5 mins drive. Numerous other golf clubs are also available both nearby in Portugal and in Spain.
Travel
Faro airport is approx 45 mins drive and approx 60km easy drive along the A22. Car hire is easily available and very reasonable - shop around the many car hire companies.
Distances
The village is a 5 mins walk. The castle and fort both in Castro Marim are walking distance. There are a number of bars/cafes and a few good restaurants in Castro Marim. The resort of Monte Gordo and town of Vila Real both have restaurants bars hotels, marina. Castro Marim is on the edge of the salt marshes and nature reserve. All within 7 minutes drive away.
Further details
The Marina at Ayamonte in Spain has shops, restaurants + bars. It can be reached by Ferry from Vila Real or by car approx 10 mins drive. Castro Marim has 2 local banks, pharmacy, post office, butchers and supermarket and lots of little cafe/bars. There is always local entertainment at weekends. Swimming pool is 3 minutes walk away.

Have had a long and busy career in the City of London. Have semi retired so I could spend as much time with family and get away to my second home in Castro Marim.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
My home in Portugal is my refuge where I can disappear to at short notice. With sunshine almost all year round and a country that is laid back, it offers the ideal opportunity to relax and unwind from busy London life and of course the British weather!
With only a short flight its also easy to take off for a long weekend especially if the weather here at home is getting us down.
Friends and family love it too.
Unique benefits of the property
The property is spacious and is located conveniently in the village of Castro Marim yet within minutes drive to the beach and the town /marina of Vila Real . The beach resort of Monte Gordo is a few mins away and offers a range of restaurants & bars and even a Casino.
Its also very near the border with Spain (3 KM) and so gives you the added benefit of experiencing the Spainsh culture & scenery.
For Golf enthusiasts, there are two Golf courses on the doorstep and several in and around the area & ofcourse more across the border in Spain.
Castro Marim has a Nature Reserve so for Bird Watchers would love exploring the area.
