Vila das Acacias is a luxury 3 bedroom villa located in an enviable position on the quieter side of Praia da Luz, Portugal, with magnificent sea and headland views and within walking distance of beach, restaurants, shops and supermarket. It has a private pool (pool heating available), and a large private garden. The villa has a strict no-smoking policy and no pets are allowed.

Changeover day
Changeover days are flexible to enable guests to take advantage of cheap flight schedules. Arrival after 14:00 hrs. and departure before 10:00 hrs.

Notes on accommodation
The villa is furnished to an extremely high standard, including comfortable sofas and chairs, a large dining suite, Sky TV with English channels, built-in DVD player, CD player, good selection of books, wall-mounted safe and intruder alarm system. Upstairs, there are sliding doors to big terraces from the lounge and kitchen, outdoor dining table, chairs and a gas BBQ. The kitchen is well equipped, including dishwasher and washing machine and there is a log-burning stove in the lounge. The villa is also equipped with central heating. Downstairs, it has 3 double bedrooms, each with doors to garden and pool. The master bedroom has a firm king-size bed (6’ wide). There are 2.5 bathrooms; one with shower cubicle and one with bath-tub and overhead shower and screen.

Outside
Spacious sun terrace and swimming pool with poolside furniture and a view to the sea. The villa is surrounded by a pretty garden with flowering shrubs and fruit trees. It is enclosed with plastered walling, over which, there are wide areas of hillside and almond trees. The tiled, piano-shaped swimming pool is approx. 4 x 6 metres and south-facing. It has a special salt-water chlorinator to avoid skin irritation which can sometimes be caused by chlorine. It can be heated in the mid and low seasons, and has a pool cover on a roller to help maintain the warmth overnight. There are steps down to the shallow end and underwater lighting. Gardening and weekly pool maintenance service included.
Coast/Beach
The glorious sandy beach of Praia da Luz is a 10 minute walk away. Very safe for children, with the added attraction of rock pools at one end of the beach. Water sports are available, including banana rides and windsurfing. There are also a number of horse riding centres in the Luz area, which cater for all ages and levels of skill.
Golf
Four top-class golf courses are within 30 minutes drive. Parque de Floresta, Palmares, Penina and Boavista (just 5 minutes away).
Travel
Faro airport is approx. 55 min. drive. A new section of motorway (A2) opened in June 2003 connecting Faro to Lagos. Junction 1 is just 5 Kms from the Villa. Regular trains run between Faro and Lagos. The Villa is just a 10-15 min. taxi ride from the train station at Lagos. A car is not required but can be rented in the village for day trips to explore the Algarve. There is plenty of car parking space available for guests immediately outside the villa.
Distances
Vila das Acacias is well situated in a peaceful, yet convenient location suitable for a family, beach, golf or walking holiday. Guests have access to Tennis courts just 250 metres from the villa and the nearby resort of Parque de Floresta also offers squash, archery, riding, a gym and a beauty salon. There are riding stables at Almadena offering rides in the unspoilt countryside. The market and fishing town of Lagos, with harbour, new sailing marina, markets, restaurants and shops is only 5 km.
Further details
Praia da Luz has surprising facilities for a village. There are lots of restaurants, catering for all tastes, as well as bars, banks, post office, and even a cinema. Several supermarkets are tucked away in the back streets. The largest (Baptista) offers telephone ordering and free delivery. There is a 24 hour medical facility as well as dentists.
Booking notes
A 20% deposit (minimum £200) The balance is due 8 weeks prior to arrival. An additional security deposit of £150 is required together with the balance. This will be refunded within 21 days of departure. Cancellation up to 12 weeks prior to the start date of the holiday will incur loss of deposit only. Between 12 weeks and 8 weeks prior, 50% of the full payment is due, and less than 8 weeks prior 100% of the full payment is due.

About the owner
We spent many years renting villas for our own holidays and were often dismayed to find poor beds, showers that didn't work well, utensils that bend when you try to use them etc. You get the picture! We eventually bought our own villa and equipped it as we feel a villa should be ... everything works as it is supposed to! The complimentary feedback we get from or clients tells us that we have got things right. We also think that it is important to have beautiful views to look at while wining and dining alfresco. We spend hours gazing across the ocean and headland from our spacious terraces. Our clients all seem to do the same!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought our villa largely for our own use and chose the village of Praia da Luz for its unspoiled charm. We chose our villa for its situation. We wanted to be close enough to be able to walk to the restaurants, beach and supermarket, to be just out of range of the hustle and bustle of the village centre, and to be able to enjoy the fabulous ocean and headland views. A tall order, but we found just the spot! We're sure you'll agree with us.
Unique benefits of the property
We have a great garden which wraps around the villa. It links the quiet secluded area at the rear to the pool area at the front. Many of our clients alternate between going to the beach and just chilling out in the garden. The villa terraces are on the upper floor to get the views. We enlarged the front terrace because it is such a great place for sunbathing, dining, lounging, whatever you prefer to do on holiday.
Once you are at the villa, there is no need for a car. Everything is within walking distance ... and the local supermarket offers a free delivery service. This means you won't have to carry the water, food, wine and beer back to the villa.
