Newly refurbished in 2008, the villa is luxuriously appointed for guests' comfort and enjoyment during their stay. The south facing villa has its own large private heated pool (12 x 6m), brick built BBQ and terrace areas. It is ideal for families or groups of golfers alike. The villa is sited about 300m walk from the resort's small provision shop. A short walk also takes you to the golf clubhouse and driving range alongside is Praia D'el Rey's children's club ‘Clube Aventura’ (up to 16 years old) which offers outdoor activities including surfing, body boarding, quad biking, paintball, archery, kayaking and beach/sports games. Family excursions and activities are also available - these can be booked through ‘Clube Aventura’ next to the club house. The villa is 5 minutes walk to the resort's tennis centre and also 5 minutes walk to the Marriot hotel and beach. A short drive will get you to Sierra del Rey, with more shops and restaurants. Free WiFi is now available to guests.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday during peak times otherwise flexible. Check in after 3pm and check out by 11am on day of departure.

Outside
The property is on a site of 0.7 of an acre, so lots of space for children to play or to find a quiet corner to relax. There is a large private heated swimming pool (12m x 6m) that is in the sun from early in the morning til late. The kitchen furniture consists of tables, chairs and sun loungers. There is a built in barbecue.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful sandy beach is a five minute walk from the property by the Marriott Hotel. The Obidos lagoon is 5 minutes by car.
Golf
The golf club is a two minute walk away from the house, and the golf driving range is a three minute walk. The Praia del Rey golf course is a superb championship course ranked 80th best in the World.
Travel
Lisbon international airport is the nearest airport and is just under one hour's drive from the villa. There are many car hire options at the airport.
Porto airport is approximately 2.5 hours by car.
If arriving by car from UK, Santander and Bilbao are 8-9 hrs drive away, almost entirely on motorways.
Distances
Serra Del Rey about 3 miles, good for local shopping. Peniche, with supermarkets and fish/vegetable markets and Obidos about 8 miles, touristy shops and one good supermarket, and various festivals throughout the year. Caldas da Rainha about 10 miles, the largest local shopping centre. with a new culture centre. Fatima about 40 miles, with its religious centre. Lisbon about 60 miles. Tomar, a beautiful Moorish citadel, about 65 miles. Batalha and Alcobaca cathedrals about 30 & 25 miles away.
Further details
Many local restaurants offer excellent value and details are to be found in the villa. There is a shop within Praia Del Rey for essentials, and Serra Del Rey has a good pharmacy, patisserie, newsagent, barber, and hardware shop and mini supermarket. The main shopping is in Peniche and Caldas da Rainha where there are also good vegetable, fruit and fish markets, as well as many supermarkets and fashion/clothing shops.
Among the local activities are golf, tennis, walking, cycling at Praia del Rey, water sports at Baleal/Peniche and Obidos Lagoon.
Boat trips from Peniche Harbour to the historical and nature reserve island of Berlenga, can be made during the summer months, about 45 minutes trip.
The Adventure Club provides a programme of activities for ages up to 16, e.g. canoeing, surfing, cycling, quad biking &c. It also has indoor facilities with various games. There is also a small childrens' playground for toddlers. So....activities for all ages! The Tennis Club has 7 hard courts, with instruction available for all levels, and summer competitions.
Booking notes
Communication with the owner is best by email initially. A non-refundable deposit of £200 per week booked is required to confirm your booking, with the balance to be paid 45 days before departure. A returnable damage deposit of £200 per week booked is also required with the balance. Separate cheque for this. Refunds in the event of cancellation, within +40 days from departure 75% of "balance" amount refunded; 39-30 days, 40%; 29 days or less, Nil.

About the owner
Hi, we are a family with 5 kids and we love our villa in Portugal. Our kids are aged 22, 20, 15, 10 and 8. We spend as much time there as possible and we rent the villa when we are not using it ourselves. It is very much a family home where we have amazing holidays.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought the property because we love the sports facilities as well as the large garden. Also, the weather is usually lovely but not too hot which means we can play tennis and golf during the day. There is a lovely breeze that comes in off the Atlantic that keeps you cool in the Summer but be careful because the sun is still hot to burn! Praia del Rey is a lovely resort in a very unspoilt part of Portugal. The local towns and restaurants are lovely and inexpensive. Obidos is a lovely medieval town which is a 'must' to visit.
Unique benefits of the property
The villa is on a secluded plot which is very large and mature. The house therefore is single storey designed to surround the pool on 2 sides. The pool is heated and large and inflatables are available to be used in the pool. For families with children we provide a cot and a highchair at no additional cost.
