Casa Da Bruxa has its own access and private garden. There are roses and lilies and visiting geckos depending on the time of the year. There is a shaded sitting and dining area and plenty of room to enjoy the sunshine too. We also offer a unique twin bed annexe with a shower room. Private gardens to the rear of the property give access to the pool and open out onto woodland with an adventure trail. Views from all aspects are of hills covered in orange,olive and almond trees. We are easily accessible on a tarmac road. Santa Catarina is a 5 minute car ride - a quaint village with a bank, post office, church, small supermarket and great bakery. Notes on accommodation
Air-conditioning in living area. The Annexe is not connected to the cottage. It is ten paces away across the garden. At night all properties are secured by locked metal gates to the main entrance. All doors have secure locking systems. All windows are lockable and have shutters. You will be safe as can be in an area with a history of nil problems. This is not a tourist area.
Accessibility
Not suitable for those with mobility problems as the property is on a hill and there are 12 access steps to the cottage.

There are several seating areas, shaded and in the full sun. There are two barbecue areas and you can dine at the unique spider web table. There is a Dutch Tub available for guests use. Heated in winter. Cool in summer.

Nearest beach 20 mins Fuzeta. Longest beach Manta Rota 30 mins [Stretching all the way to Spain]. Most idyllic and unusual, car free Isla Armona. 15 mins drive and a 10 min ferry from Olhao.

Huge choice within 30 min drive.

Faro airport is 25 mins drive. Car hire is essential.
If driving doesn't appeal we can arrange airport pick up and drop off at £25 each way.

Tavira is an old and stunning town built on a river. There are strong Moorish influences and as yet it remains unspoilt. In the months of July and August free entertainment abounds each evening in the small marble ampi theatre in the heart of Tavira.Tavira is a 20 minute drive. Loule. Historic and vibrant and just 30 mins drive. Olhao. Not the prettiest but this an authentic working port town. Huge daily fish market and adjoining market hall with fresh produce. Saturdays are a delight with the addition of a traditional farmers market 15 min drive. There is a Bowls club just outside Santa Caterina and a lovely open air swimming pool in Sao Bras. For the young or indeed young at heart we have Braveland adventure park 10 minutes away on the road to Olhao. We can arrange to shop for you if there are special items you require on arrival. If you want to arrange a romantic evening we can help. Champagne breakfast suprise on one of the patios, no problem.

About the owner
Brian Kilcline, thats me. A former professional footballer with Notts County, Coventry City and Newcastle Utd. You'll more likely find me picking carobs now or shaking olives out of the trees than kicking a football. Lynn, my wife can often be found painting, pictures, walls and occasionally both together. We both like gardening, well I get to dig the holes and carry heavy stuff while Lynn does the fancy bits, but I have been told I enjoy it!
Its lovely here in the countryside and it looks particularly beautiful in spring and late summer. The beaches are glorious too, the jewel in the crown has to be the best kept secret of the Algarve, Isla Armona, 15mins and a short ferry ride away from us.
I love swimming in the sea and we have a kayak so often take that out. Never a dull moment.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought the property as a renovation project and it was certainly a learning curve. We realised very quickly how lucky we had been in our choice, not for the obvious reasons of the property potential but its proximity to sea, airport and shops whilst maintaining a countryside feel. We are relatively easy to find and access is off a main tarmac road onto a concrete flat top, that is a tremendous advantage both for your vehicle and in the winter. We can be at the village bakery in 5mins. International supermarket in 10mins and paddling in the sea in 15 mins. All that and a beautiful garden and panoramic views of the countryside. Can't be bad! We decided to put our little adjoining cottage on the rental market 2 years ago it was a shame not to let others enjoy what we have.
Unique benefits of the property
Along with everyone who has stayed with us, family and guests alike, the main reaction is 'the peace, its so relaxing.' We feel that way too. Some people never leave the garden even when we supply endless possibilities of events, scenic attractions or restaurants. Then there is 'the bar', at the bottom of our drive. We were too shy to go in at first. Speaking no Portuguese and clearly a meeting place for neighbours we felt really out of place. How could we have been so daft? Owners Joaquim and Vivalinda and all the locals are smashing. Always a welcome smile and tip of the hat regardless of language ability. Joaquim ready with the jump leads and the tractor when the car won't start. If you forget the milk or eggs there is a little store in the back with all sorts. Beer at 75c beat that!
