Surrounded by open countryside, Eiras Velhas is situated on a private estate 8 km from Lagos and 3 km from the beautiful bay of Praia da Luz. It is a short walk from the village of Almadena with its restaurants and cafes and a few kilometres from the fishing villages of Burgau and Salema. The beautifully renovated old farm buildings cluster round a sunny courtyard containing large bougainvilleas, old vines and trees, a working well and a fish pond. The whole estate offers a high degree of seclusion and security making it ideal for families and larger groups. Guests are invited to enjoy the mature gardens, lawns, large sheltered swimming pool and sunbathing terrace. There is also a BBQ area and summer kitchen shaded by flowering vines and a huge pepper tree, for informal get-togethers. Self-catering accommodation comprises one 3 bedded cottage and two 2 bedded cottage. There are also two 2 bed suites available for any number of nights required.

Bird of Paradise Suite

| Tastefully decorated large studio apartment (Sleeps 2) with spacious outdoor terraced balcony overlooking the estate gardens and the open countryside. Living area comprises two person sofa, chair, 22 inch flatscreen TV/DVD player connected to satellite TV, dining chairs and table and a simple kitchenette which includes tea and coffee making facilities, a toaster, microwave and a fridge with freezer compartment. Sleeping area includes two single beds which can be made into a large double upon request, double wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bathroom includes shower cubicle, wash basin, toilet, bidet and mirror. | |
Notes on accommodation
All the cottages and suites have their own individual character and feature huge thick walls making them cool in summer. Two cots are available plus a high chair. The summer kitchen has a washing machine for guests use. Satellite TV and DVD players available in all cottages. Also available for rent is the Jasmine Suite, a large twin bedded room with ample space for an extra bed if required. Separate bathroom. This suite has been adapted for those who require wheelchair access together with associated facilities in the bathroom area. Tea, coffee making facilities, together with a toaster and fridge are provided. The gardens make this property an ideal location for weddings which can be arranged through a local wedding planner.
Accessibility
All accommodation is on ground level with the exception of Bird of Paradise which is on 1st floor level with sun terrace. Jasmine Studio (Sleeps 2) is equipped with mobility devices making it ideal for holiday makers with mobility issues. The large studio room comprises high ceilings with plenty of ground space making every feature of this apartment fully accessible.
Outside
The whole estate is set in acres of mature gardens with a large lawn area and old trees providing many shady areas when the sun gets too much for you! The accommodation is set round a courtyard with plenty of tables and chairs provided for outside living. There is a large 14 x 7m swimming pool with secluded sunbathing terrace and plenty of sun beds and parasols.
There is ample parking for cars.
Coast/Beach
Eiras Velhas is only minutes drive from some of the Algarve's most beautiful beaches – Praia da Luz 3km, Burgau 3km, Salema 8km - and the spectacular west coast.
Golf
Parque da Floresta and Boavista golf courses are within a few minutes drive while Palmares is aproximately 12km away.
Special interest holidays
Artist classes are held once a week and guests are welcome to participate.
Bi-weekly mountain bike tours of the local area are held by the owners and all guests are welcome.
Travel
Eiras Velhas is just off the main EN125 main road which joins the A22 motorway at Lagos making it less than 1 hour from Faro Airport and approximately 2.5 hours (motorway all the way) from Lisbon. Car hire is strongly recommended.

The historical town of Lagos is 8km east from Eiras Velhas.

In addition to golf, the area has a wide range of sporting facilities including the newly build motor racing circuit, windsurfing, sailing, surfing, diving, horse riding, tennis, bowls, dolphin watching and deep sea fishing. Bird watching and walking tours can be arranged for you and we are on site help with any advise and bookings.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, it could not have been better. The hospitality that Kathy and Alan offered was better than anywhere I’ve ever stayed. We wanted a peaceful and relaxing holiday in august, and were worried this wasn’t possible, but we ready needn’t have. With only 5 rooms sharing a huge gorgeous pool we had many days where we were the only ones there. Really hope to go back again sometime and would advise anyone to go here (except if you are going to ruin the peace and quiet!!)

We stayed at Paraiso Jardim with 2 elderly parents, and 2 young boys. It suited all of us as Vine Cottage with its super thick walls was cool in the heat of the day for my parents while the boys loved the pool. Kathy and Alan made us feel relaxed and welcome right from the start .A really lovely and relaxing place to stay. I hope to be back soon.
