Quinta Arruba is a large villa purpose built in 2008. Set in 6 acres of land with olive, fruit and young carob trees with panoramic views of the sea. Approximately a 5 minute drive into the centre of Tavira with its many restaurants, shops and historic places of interest. The beaches and top quality golf courses are a 10 and 15 minutes drive away. There is a large pool for the exclusive use of guests set in a walled area with sun terraces and shaded areas. The guest lounge/dining room equipped with TV, DVD, Karaoke, music centre, board games and library opens onto a large terrace shaded by a pergola. There is also a purpose built boules pitch. All bedrooms have ensuite shower and are fully equipped. There is central heating for winter months so rooms are cosy & warm and air-conditioning and fans in summer to keep rooms cool. The owners are English and always available to provide catering, refreshments and a laundry service for longer stays.

Notes on prices
Prices are for per room/night in euros. Baby cots in shared room are available at 15 euros per night. Camp beds for a child up to 7 years available at 20 euros per night, maximum of one cot and one camp bed per room. Single occupancy 30% discount on room rate.
Changeover day
Arrival/departure days are flexible but rooms must be vacated by 11am on departure day and rooms will not be available until 3pm on arrival day. Continued use of the facilities on departure day is available at no extra cost.
Notes on accommodation
Air-conditioning in all rooms except for the guest lounge/dining room where there are ceiling fans.
Ideal for children and babysitting can be arranged.
Accessibility
Not suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
The swimming pool is 9 x 5 metres, 1 meter deep at either end and 2 metres in the centre . It is surrounded by terraces and shaded areas fully furnished with outdoor furniture and parasols. It is completely fenced so very safe for young children. There is also a purpose built boules pitch and a large parking area.
Coast/Beach
The closest beach is a 15 minute drive away or 10 minutes to the Aqua taxi over to Tavira Island with its wonderful beaches. The entire Algarve is accessable in 90 minutes. Spanish beaches are also only a 30 minute drive away.
Golf
10 minutes to the nearest golf course and 5 courses within 20 minutes in the Eastern Algarve plus only 35 minutes to the courses on the Western Algarve ( Villamoura, Quinta Do Lago etc) and 25 minutes to courses in Spain.
Golf clubs available to hire. The proprietor is a keen golfer and can recommend courses, book tee times and make up numbers if required.
Travel
Faro airport is 25 minutes from the villa with cheap flights from the UK with EasyJet, Monarch, Ryan Air and many others.
Car hire is essential as the villa is at the end of a track which is a kilometre from the road leading into Tavira. Suggested carhire from Thrifty or Europcar.
Distances
The historical town of Tavira is a 5 minute drive away and we are 25 minutes from Faro and Ayamonte in Spain.
50 minutes to the Western Algarve, Waterparks etc.
Further details
Tavira is set either side of the river Gilo, linked by a Roman bridge and still retains all the charm of a bygone era. There is a Castle, many churches, a small Museum, art galery and many places of interest.
There are small shops and great restaurants, bars/ cafes all reasonably priced. Several banks are open 5 days a week and numerous cash machines. The Medical centre is open 7 days a week 24 hours a day.
Booking notes
Enquiries should be made by email or telephone, a 20% non-refundable deposit will be required at the time of booking, minimum stay is 2 nights. The balance is payable 4 weeks before or by cash on arrival. Deposit payments to be made by bank transfer, credit cards facilities are not available.

About the owner
My partner John and I bought a small derelict Quinta in Sta Margarida on the edge of Tavira 5 years ago. It took 2 years to obtain permission to build Quint Arruba but in September 2008 we received our Habitation licence and moved into our dream villa. We love the weather, the Portuguese people, excellent fresh food and the relaxed way of life. John is a keen golfer and can recommend which courses are best to play, he is also a Chelsea supporter. I enjoy running our Guest House and meeting people from all over the world. In my spare time my passions are cooking, swimming and walking.
Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
We looked for several years for an ideal place abroad and finally found Tavira in 2005. We love the traditional feel of Tavira with its places of historical interest and great restaurants, conveniently close to Faro airport, golf courses and the beaches.

We are only a 5 minute drive from Tavira but a rural location set in 6 acres of land with over 200 trees and panoramic views of the sea.
There are no close neighbours so all terraces and the pool area are completely private.
