In the hills 3km west of São Brás de Alportel, Casa Idalina is an exciting villa which has been available for rental since March 2009. Casa Idalina, designed by a renowned Spanish architect, combines traditional Algarve style with every modern amenity. It has a private heated pool (11x5m) with a large terrace and BBQ patio. It is set in its own well-kept garden on the side of a south-facing hill with carob, olive, lemon, orange, palms and many colourful Mediterranean plants such as bougainvillea and oleander. It is elegantly furnished and impeccably equipped, including Wi-Fi and air con/central heating. A 5-minute walk along a country path leads to the local bar/restaurant; other restaurants plus supermarkets, shops and banks are only 3km away. Faro airport and a large choice of international golf courses and stunning beaches are within 25-30 minutes’ drive. Water parks, horse-riding and tennis are also in easy reach. Ideal for families with children over 5 years old, or for groups.

Changeover day
Normally Thursday, with access to the villa as from 16:00; departure time by 10:00. Can sometimes be flexible, especially out of high season.

Notes on accommodation
Storeroom near the parking area for golf clubs etc. Windows have double-glazing, mosquito netting and shutters. Complementary tea, coffee and milk available on arrival. ‘Welcome pack’ available on request. An information pack on the region is provided, plus guide books, maps etc. No smoking please. No pets please. Not necessarily suitable for children under the age of 5, nor for infirm people, as there are flights of steps up from the parking area to the pool and to the villa itself.

11x5m salt water swimming pool (with heating if required at additional charge of £140 pw). Min depth 1.00m, max. depth 1.80m. Separate shower room and toilet for pool users. Electrically operated pool cover for complete safety. Lights for evening swimming. Big terrace with 8 sun-beds and patio furniture. Covered BBQ area, with dining table and chairs under large pergola. Well-kept garden with carob, olive, lemon, orange, palms, climbers, eg. bougainvillea etc. Private driveway with automatic security gate and covered parking for up to 3 cars.
Coast/Beach
Very easy access by car to many beaches, including the well-known resorts of Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo, Quinta do Lago and Albufeira to the west, and the less known but delightful beaches to the east, eg. the island of Tavira.
Golf
Many impressive golf courses are within very easy reach, including world-renowned championship courses at Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo, Quinta de Cima and many others.
Travel
Faro airport is a 25-minute drive away. Car hire before arrival is essential. We can recommend a reliable, local car-hire company.

São Brás de Alportel 3km. Loulé 8km. Estoi 5km. Tavira 20km. Faro 20km. Faro airport 20km. Spanish border 50km. Seville 200km. Access to the Algarve motorway, running from the Spanish border to Lagos in western Algarve is only 6km away.
Booking notes
A 30% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival.
If a booking is made within 6 weeks of arrival, full payment is required.
A refundable deposit of £300 is required to cover any accidental breakages or damage.

About the owner
We got to know Portugal and learnt fluent Portuguese when we lived and worked in Lisbon from 1977-1983. During this time we visited the Algarve frequently and bought an old house in the São Brás de Alportel area which we have gradually done up over the years.
We currently live and work in Madrid and continue to return to our house in the Algarve several times a year. More recently, we have built another house, Casa Idalina, and deliberately opted for a place inland within easy reach of the coast. This decision was based on our experience that this is the best way to combine enjoyment of authentic rural Portugal with easy access to all the fun holiday facilities that are available close by.
