Coast/Beach
In the Tavira region one can find the most unspoiled sandy, wide and clean beaches of all the Algarve, part of the Natural Park ‘Ria Formosa’. Beach access can be either by short ferry or miniature train rides or on foot. All the information about the best beaches can be found at home.
Golf
Within 5 minutes drive of the property can be found 5 golf courses - Benamor Golf (18 holes), Quinta da Ria, Quinta do Cima (both 18 holes), Monte Rey (championship standard), Colina Verde (9 holes). Castro Marim is within 20 mins drive and also has 2 splendid courses.

Travel
Tavira is situated 30 minutes East of Faro Airport. A car is not essential to enjoy your stay at Alto do Perogil, but we suggest you to hire one to visit the best sites in Algarve. There is also an easy train or bus connection for all the main cities and Spanish boarder. Taxis around Tavira are a set fee of 4 euros.
Distances
Historic Tavira is within walking distance of the property. Tavira is often called the prettiest town on the Algarve. It is 15km to the charming fishing towns of Olhao and Fuzeta, the nature reserve Ria Formosa is within 8km and unspoilt villages such as Santa Luzia, and Cacela Velha are all within a few kms. The Spanish border is 30 mins by car and Seville is not much more than an hour away by car.

This historic town has many attractive old churches (35), museums, fortified remains and historic buildings with a high architectural interest. You can also find shops, bars, seafood restaurants and a daily market for vegetables, fruit and fish. There are some lovely regional and flea markets. You can explore Tavira by walking or horse carriage ride. Guided tours are available. The Algarve is ideal for golf, cycling, walking and beach activities and it is a year-round destination with a unique climate (so called California of Europe).

"We had a wonderful holiday. When we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, and the welcome pack in the apartment was a lovely surprise; the apartment was beautiful, as well as clean and tidy and very comfortable. Our hosts, Rui and Isabel, were very friendly and an excellent source of local knowledge and very responsive to any requests that we had.
Tavira was a great place for a quiet holiday, with plenty of good restaurants to wander in to when we weren't barbequing on the balcony of the apartment. The walk in was a very gentle 30 minute stroll to even the furthest restaurant and helped to stop the waistline from expanding on all the good food!
The pool was well maintained and a good size for the number of apartments around it. The area was quiet, so much so that we enjoyed oversleeping almost every day. A fabulous and relaxing break, one we intend to repeat."
