Monte Maravilhas is a 22 acres (8,5 ha) estate situated near Lake Santa Clara in the foothills of the Monchique mountain range. The property features two houses that have been renovated with love and care. Each house has its own terrace, with plants and flowers and superb views. There are lounge chairs, parasols and much privacy. The estate is hilly and covered with many cork and olive trees. In the green valley are several water wells as well as an orchard with grapevines and many fruit trees. In winter and spring, water flows through the stream. A salt water swimming pool is available for our guests. Monte Maravilhas is 500m from the public road. Thus an ideal place to enjoy peaceful and quiet holidays.

Changeover day
In the months July and August saturday is the preferred changeover day. During the other months the changeover day is flexible. Arrival time is 15.00 hrs, departure time is 11.00 hrs.

Casa Azul (2 Bedroom, Sleeps 4)

Casa Azul, the blue house, has a living room with wooden floor, sofa (bed sofa) low table, 2 comfortable chairs, dining table with 4 chairs, cupboards, stereo system and wood burning heater. On 2 sides of the living room doors open to sunny terraces. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a stove with oven, refrigerator and washing machine. There is an entrance with corridor, a bathroom with shower, a seperate toilet. One bedroom has a double bed and one bedroom has two single beds. Both bedrooms have wardrobes, side tables and chairs. The two terraces have lounge chairs, a dining table with 4 chairs. Both terraces have a superb view. |

Outside
The houses are surrounded by hills, many cork trees, olive trees and fruit trees. There is a green valley in the center of the estate with a lawn, orange trees and a vegetable garden. There are 4 wells and there is a natural pond. The houses have their own outdoor furniture and there are hammocks between the trees. The swimming pool has natural salt water and its size is 9 x 4,5 meters. There is a seperate sun terrace with parasols and lounge chairs. The pool is surrounded by trees and plants and only is available for guests of Monte Maravilhas.
Coast/Beach
Monte Maravilhas is situated 45km from the village Vila Nova de Milfontes at the Atlantic Ocean (westcoast). The west coast has many beautiful unspoilt beaches.
Special interest holidays
Monte Maravilhas organises several activity weeks. There are hiking weeks with a guide, painting course, massage and meditation course, yoga course, cookery course and Portuguese language and culture course. Besides the activity weeks it is possible to book individual massage and mediation sessions. Also we provide 7 different hiking track descriptions, including detailed maps for guests who like to hike individually. There are 2 bicycles available for guests.
Travel
Monte Maravilhas is situated 110km from Faro Airport (1 hour and 20 mins driving) and 210km from Lisbon Airport (2 hours and 30 mins driving). We advise guests rent a car. The nearest train station is 10 min driving distance.
Distances
Monte Maravilhas is situated 1km from Sao Martinho das Amoreiras, an authentic Portuguese village with shops, a post office and different pubs. The Lake Santa Clara is 13km away. There are different villages in the neighbourhood. The town Ourique is 20km and the town Odemira is 30km distance.

The village (1km) has small supermarkets, the nearest big supermarket is in Ourique. Restaurants and banks are at 6km and 10km distance
Booking notes
Booking of the houses is secured after payment of a deposit of 150 euros per reserved week. The rest of the payment must be received no later than 4 weeks before arrival date.

'We would like to thank you for the wonderful week we spent in Casa Azul. After 70km on bicycle the first impression was like arriving to little Eden. Not to forget the warm welcome we received (an ice cold beer). The place offers all comforts you can imagine combined with amazing nature. We have enjoyed immensely watching the donkeys and chickens while sitting on our private terrace, Special thanks also to the hiking guide, the instructions of the routes were very good.
