Changeover day
Our normal check in time is 3pm on day of arrival and check out time 10am on day of departure to allow for cleaning etc, but we seek to meet your requirements rather than administrative convenience wherever possible.

We ensure the apartment is cleaned and ready for your stay. Longer stays cleaned on a weekly basis. Bedlinen/towels (except beach) are provided and changed weekly. Additional cleaning and towel/linen changes can be arranged for a small additional fee. |
Notes on accommodation
The apartment has gas fired central heating throughout. Full length manual window and door shutters (except main living room which is automatic). A full information pack in available in the apartment to assist your stay, to make the most of the region and the resort facilities. Free-to-view (sky) satellite TV is available alongside the resort cable TV listing. Children's high chairs and cots can be arranged for an additional charge. We request no smoking and pets in the apartment please.

Outside
The apartment enjoys a spacious private terrace overlooking the pool, accessed from the living/dining room and main bedroom, ideal for dining alfresco and entertaining. The terrace comes equipped with 2 sun loungers, dining table and 4 chairs. Beautifully maintained communal gardens lead to the swimming pool, a short 5 minute walk (via the pool and gardens, or access road) to the beautiful unspoilt beach.
Coast/Beach
The glorious unspoilt silver sand beach that stretches for miles is a 5 minute walk and offers fantastic walks along the dunes and coastline. The beach always appears and feels uncrowded. Beautiful Obidos Lagoon is a 5 min drive away with kite surfing and sailing. The award winning surfing beaches of Baleal/Peniche/Foz are a 15 min drive. The Berlenga Islands nature reserve, visible off the coast can be visited by boat from Peniche are also a major attraction for Scuba Diving.
Golf
Praia D’El Rey was selected by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) as European Golf Resort 2007. Also by ‘Golf World’ as the 13th Best in Europe, and Gold Award winner for Best golf development by ‘Homes Overseas’. A mixture of links and mature woodland, with cliff top ocean views, local countryside and lush scented pine forest. Golf can be booked direct through the PDR Pro Shop or (more reasonably) using internet-based booking services. British golf pro's are available for lessons and the practice facilities are outstanding with short and long game areas, and several putting greens. There are other excellent golf courses along the Atlantic coastline and inland from Praia Del Rey within a short drive to add variety. Conditions are exceptional throughout the year. Full hire services at the clubhouse pro shop. The clubhouse also has a bar/restaurant. Please be aware that the pro shop may ask for handicap certificates.
Special interest holidays
There are many activities for the non golfer/day off golfers, the coastline, surrounding countryside/forests offer excellent walking, cycling and horse riding. The resort has 7 floodlit tennis courts, football pitches, and children’s play areas. Nearby Baleal/Peniche have world renowned surfing beaches. The Berlenga Islands nature reserve for exploring and scuba diving. Obidos Lagoon has water-sports including sailing and fishing. There are nearby wine caves and vineyards where you can taste the wines of the region. Alternatively, visit the surrounding towns, the historic town of Obidos, its castle, narrow cobbled streets, local shops/markets and year round festivals/concerts. The 5* Marriott hotel has restaurants/bars, kids club, and spa if you require pampering, with indoor, outdoor pools, fully equipped gym, steam room and sauna.
Travel
Praia Del Rey is a 50 min drive from Lisbon Airport, served by Monarch and TAP from Gatwick; BA and TAP from Heathrow, Easyjet from Stansted/Luton/Bristol/Liverpool and Thomson from Manchester. Car hire is strongly recommended, both to get around the resort and to make the most of its beautiful surroundings. There are shuttle buses on the resort in high season running the whole length of Praia D’El Rey. Local taxi contact numbers are provided. Full directions are provided for bookings.
Distances
Serra D’El Rei and Obidos Lagoon are a 5 min drive. Obidos (historic castle town) and Peniche (Fishing Village) are 10km away. Baleal (Surf, beach) 7km. Foz Da Arello (Beach Resort) 20km, Caldas de Rainha (city with shopping) is 30 min away, World Heritage town Sintra, Fatima and Estoril approx 50km/1hr away. 10-30km to wine caves and vineyards of the region. Berlenga Islands (Nature reserve) are a 40 min boat ride from Peniche. There are ten 18-hole quality golf courses within an hours drive.
Further details
There is a small convenience store on the resort, a larger shop in the village of Serra D'El Rei and several much larger supermarkets in Peniche, Obidos and Caldas da Rainha where the range is good and the wine and beer are cheap. Caldas de Rainha has a daily market for fresh fruit, vegetables, and other local produce. There are many good quality restaurants (from Portuguese to Gourmet Cuisine) in the surrounding areas, as well as many very inexpensive local style restaurants where fish is always top of the menu. The wines of the region come highly recommended. Obidos has festivals throughout the year and many concerts are held in the grounds of the Castle and battlements. There is a cash machine at the clubhouse and a further one within the Marriott hotel and there are banks in all the nearby towns.
Booking notes
A 25% deposit required on bookings, with full payment 6 weeks prior to your rental. A refundable breakages/damages deposit of £150/200 euros is required. This amount added to the final payment is refundable within 2 weeks of let end, less any reasonable cost of breakage/damage identified at changeover inspection. Sorry no smoking/pets in the apartment.
Cancellation policy; Up to 6 weeks – no cancellation charge, 4-6 weeks – 65% refunded, 2-4 weeks – 45% refunded, less than 2 weeks – no refund.
