From your private balcony you can enjoy the best views in the resort - stunning views of the ocean, golf course and the resort itself. The beach is literally 2 minutes walk, as is the fantastic communal pool (heated May to October). From the living room and master suite you can step out of the patio doors to enjoy the sunset with a glass of great Portuguese wine. The apartment is ideal for both beach and golf lovers, families and couples.

Changeover day
Normal check in time is 4pm on day of arrival and check out time 10am on day of departure. We can be flexible on changeover day.

Accessibility
The apartment is on the top (second) floor, accessed by external staircase.
Outside
The apartment has a private balcony accessed from both master suite and living room, ideal for al fresco dining and sunset cocktails. There is a Weber BBQ. Two sun loungers and table and chairs for 4 are provided. The living room also has large juliet-style balcony. Beautiful landscaped gardens lead to the shared pool and to the amazing unspoilt beach.
Coast/Beach
The apartment is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The beautiful Praia Del Rey beach is a 2 minute walk. Obidos Lagoon is a 5 minute drive.
Golf
The Praia Del Rey 18 hole par 72 championship links course was listed as Portugal's best course in the 2002/2003 Peugeot Golf Guide and rated 13th Best Continental Europe golf course by Golf World magazine. It is truly a stunning location! The course is set in extensive grounds of pine forest and undulating dunes with spectacular views over the Atlantic. With nine holes wending through the pine trees and nine hugging the Atlantic cliffs Praia D’El Rey is a demanding course.
British Pro's can offer lessons, and there are short and long game practice areas/driving range. Handicap 28 (Men) 36 (Ladies), a certificate is required. Soft spikes only, no jeans, tennis shorts, swimming trunks or t-shirts.

Travel
Praia Del Rey is a 50 minute drive from Lisbon airport. UK flights are available from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Bristol, Liverpool and Manchester. Car hire is recommended to get around the beautiful resort area. There are shuttle buses in the resort running the whole length of Praia Del Rey to take you from the apartment to the clubhouse and Marriott hotel. Local taxis are also available (numbers provided). We will supply full directions at time of booking.
Distances
Serra Del Rei is 5 min drive. The historic town of Obidos is around 10km drive as is Peniche (fishing village - great restaurants!) Baleal is a great surf beach close to Peniche. The main shopping town is Caldas da Rainha (30 min drive). Lisbon is 1 hour drive, Sintra, Fatima, Mafra, Batalha are all accessible by car in around 1 hour. There are also many wineries in the area in a 10-30km radius. Similarly there are ten other golf course accessible in the area within an hours drive.
Further details
Praia Del Rey offers many other activities - for example there is a tennis academy with 7 courts, an International FIFA standard football pitch (used regularly by the Portuguese National team as well as other top class European teams) and a well established kids club offering various activities such as surfing and swimming. The Marriott hotel has a luxurious spa and excellent gym with personal training.
The resort has a small convenience store and larger supermarkets are available in Serra, Obidos, Caldas and Peniche. Details of local restaurants are provided where you can sample Portuguese specialities (fish is obviously one of the top dishes). Portuguese local wines are very good and cheap. The clubhouse and Marriott hotel has a cash machine. We provide lots of information in the apartment to ensure you explore all that the region has to offer.
Booking notes
A 25% deposit is required on booking. The balance is payable 8 weeks prior to departure. We do not ask for a damage deposit, we understand that accidents happen, but we ask our guests to replace minor breaks such as cups or glasses. No pets or smoking - sorry! Full details of cancellation policy will be provided at time of booking.

About the owner
My husband Tony and I live and work in Dubai, but we spent a year living on the Silver Coast prior to moving here. We try to get back to Praia Del Rey as often as we can to enjoy the wonderful Portuguese lifestyle. We plan to retire to the area in a few years time!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
When we first saw the wonderful beach we instantly fell in love with the area. Driving around, you can see that the whole Silver Coast is completely unspoilt, with fantastic beaches, forests, towns and villages. This is the "real" Portugal, yet it's only less than an hour from Lisbon. You have the best of both worlds. Vila Da Praia is simply in the most stunning location, two minutes from the beach. In Praia Del Rey the golf course is recognised as one of the best in Europe, and the local surf beaches are also first class. After a week in PDR you feel very relaxed. Waking up in the morning to the sound of the waves and smells of pine and eucalyptus from the forest - magical!
