Located within the medieval city centre inside the city walls, next to Quebra Costas and the Arch of Almedina, the apartment is just 2 mins walk from the ancient university buildings, the cathedrals, art galleries and museums and many other sites of historic interest. Also, on the doorstep is a fascinating warren of shops and a daily market of local produce - flowers, fruit and vegetables, wines and cheeses. There is a wealth of pavement, riverside cafes and restaurants catering for all tastes. University traditions are celebrated on the streets with colourful parades and festivals, and the unique Fado of Coimbra which can be heard in the cafes at night. Coimbra is famous for its vibrant nightlife with bars, nightclubs and discothèques and open air concerts by the river. Excellent train and coach links from Porto or Lisbon, direct to the centre of Coimbra, mean that there is no need to hire a car to fully enjoy your stay. The apartment is a five minute walk from the train station.

Accessibility
The historic centre is built on a hill and has many steep cobbled lanes and steps, therefore the location is unsuitable for those of reduced mobility.
Coast/Beach
The popular beach resort of Figuera da Foz is 40km away from Coimbra and accessible by motorway.
Travel
Public transport - Metro from Porto Airport to Porto; then Train or Rede Expressos (coach) direct to Coimbra. Both offer a frequent and cheap service of good quality.
By car - From Porto Airport, Direction Porto/Gaia. Then A1Toll road, Direction Lisbon to Coimbra. 11/2 hour drive; parking in local Car Park.
Lisbon Airport is well served by frequent direct Train and Coach links right into Coimbra centre. For drivers, the A1 Toll road offers a direct 2hr journey.
