Although newly acquired we have updated the house to a high standard. After holidaying on Armona for 4 years with our 4 children we decided to buy here as there is nowhere like it. The island is approached by ferry or speed boat for the more adventurous! The island is spectacular and perfect for children as there are no cars. Also suited to those interested in the flora and fauna of this astounding natural area. The house is in a secluded area one row back from the beach, not far from the mini-market and main seafood restaurants. The beautiful town of Olhao is a short ferry ride away with amazing fish restaurants and markets. Buy some local fish to take back and BBQ!

Coast/Beach
Beautiful sandy beaches suitable for various activities for the energetic. Also perfect for sunbathing and beach combing! Main beach is half a minute walk with large roped-off safe swimming area. Also, a tidal lagoon provides great swimming for children on inflatables etc.
Travel
Fly to Faro airport. Taxi to Olhao town is 20 minute journey. Regular ferry crossings to Armona or out of hours speed-boat taxi ride (very exciting for children!).
Distances
Situated in Natural Park, Rio Formosa. Olhao is a beautiful town only 15 minute ferry ride from the Island. The architecturally stunning town of Tavira is a short train ride from Olhao.
Further details
Olhao has the best fish market on the Atlantic. Many weird and wonderful foods to try! It is a well equipped town with banks, supermarkets, restaurants, shops and a Post office. It is a lovely place to explore. Restaurants on Armona are relaxed and friendly providing fresh daily fish as well as classic Portuguese dishes such as Cataplana. Chicken, meat, omelettes etc. are also available.
There are two mini-markets, a fruit and vegetable stall, four restaurant/ bars at either ends of the island and a lovely sandy play-park for children.
