Accessibility
The villa is single storey, the lounge is split level, a car can be brought to the front door for off street parking.
Delightful lawned gardens with palms. There is a small central car park in the village of Guia , giving access to banks, a chemist, newsagents and a post office. You will also find cake shops, coffee shops and the "football" club which is truly international and local, where you can enjoy an English breakfast or a glass of wine with octopus salad, and watch the world go by.

The beaches of Gale (Praia da Gale) and Castello are a 5 minute drive away with excellent stretches of fine sand, panoramic views, beach bars and water sports. Local attractions include Water Slide Parks, Zoo Marine (Aquarium/seals/dolphins) Krazy World (mini golf, reptile and Animal Parks. Zoo - tropical birds, monkeys, water skiing, surfing, swimming, scuba diving and jet ski.

Travel
The villa is only 30 minutes drive from Faro Airport. Car hire is not essential, but recommended. Airport pick ups can be arranged. Local Taxis easily available. Popular with children are the Algarve's largest fun and theme parks along the EN125 highway. "Zoomarine," "The Big One" and "Slide and Splash" are all within easy reach and more, smaller attractions are planned elsewhere in the area. Further to the west we find what is claimed locally as the largest, sandiest beach in the Algarve.

Distances
The villa is 5 minutes drive from Albufeira. The beaches of Gale (Praia da Gale) and Castello are 5 mins drive away, with excellent stretches of fine sand, panoramic views, beach bars and water sports. Algarve Shopping Mall with Mega Supermarket, cinemas, bowling alley, boutiques, restaurants, a 5 mins drive away. The Salgados Golf Course nearby, with 6000 metre links, replete with water obstacles,a pleasant experience especially for the technically-skilled player.

Further details
Several mini markets are a 5 mins walk away to the quaint village. Guia village has two banks, a local pharmacy, paper shop, supermarkets, coffee shop, bakery, butchers, post office, everything you would need in fact. Many good restaurants (15) within 5 mins walk to village. Guia is famous for its restaurants which are good value and high standard. Close by is Algarve Shopping Mall with bowling, cinema, etc., The villa is in an ideal location for golfers and holidaymakers alike.

About the owner
We are a professional couple who live in a beautiful part of Ireland, on the North Antrim Coast, we have three sons and three adorable Grandchildren, Harrison 4 yrs, Savannah 1yr and Truly 2 years. We purchased the charming Portuguese Style villa Casa dos Passarinhos {House of the Birds} in 2007 after holidaying and renting in the same exclusive area of Quinta dos Alamos, for many years. We choose an area suitable for family holidays - we can choose to go to the Tourist hot spots, Albufeira is just 5 minutes away by car or taxi, but we wanted just to get to know a little about the Portuguese way of village life. Also Guia a quaint village has such a lovely pace of life, but still close to the fabulous beaches of Central Algarve. But only 30 minutes from Faro Airport - Just fabulous!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We fell in love with the Algarve and the gentle Portuguese people over 20 years ago, after exploring the area we decided the village of Guia was perfect for us. Relaxing by the pool in the heat of the day you can, close your eyes and smell the roses in the garden, the Jasmine climbing the wall beside the pool with masses of pretty creamy-yellow flowers to create a fragrance, pervading the summer air with their exquisite perfume. This must be heaven! or the Garden of Eden. If we feel like an ice cold G&T we can choose a large juicy Lemon/Lime from the tree, or just make some homemade lemonade - delicious! Breakfast on figs, grapes and oranges from the garden, with the hot crusty rolls fresh from the local home bakery. Star gazing or Moon bathing on the terrace after dinner. Wow!

Unique benefits of the property
The villa is within walking distance to the many restaurants and shops in the village, so no need to take the car. Fish - 'catch of the day' always available. Ramires claims to be the first restaurant in the Algarve that served the local very popular dish of "Chicken Piri-Piri". Lota, a restaurant considered by locals as a one of the more interesting restaurants in which to partake of fresh fish and shellfish, Always open! Our villa is In a peaceful and tranquil area with cobbled tree lined streets, away from crowds, but close to Faro Airport only 30 minutes away. We have the benefit of gas central heating for cooler evenings during the Winter months. Also a glass fronted log fire, to cuddle up to and read books or watch TV, play games, just to chill and spend time together. Internet.
