The villa boasts a tranquil setting, surrounded by vineyards, almond and olive groves. A fine choice of restaurants can be in little village of Guia, and also nearby are the fabulous Zoomarine Park and the Algarve Shopping Mall. Guia has become famous in recent years for its excellent selection of restaurants, and is particularly renowned for specialising in "Chicken Piri - Piri", the traditional Algrvean spicy chicken cooked over a charcoal grill - delicious!!! Casa dos Passarinhos is well located both for the traditional village of Guia and championship golf courses of Central Algarve. The property is in a quiet family area, Quinta dos Alamos, set in a mature garden and has a beautiful private heatable pool with patio and sun terraces. Roses, Lemon Trees, Vines, figs, all to be found in the gorgeous garden. This immaculate house enjoys the benefit of two pretty bathrooms and one guest cloakroom. Other local amenities include a supermarket, butchers shop, chemist, post office etc.

All the rooms have gas central heating for Winter lets and a log wood burning stove. The villa is safe for children as it is single storey, all doors from villa to the pool are lockable with gates. New [2010] Travel cot and Chicco High Chair provided - no extra charge. Extra child/teenager Divan 'Z' beds £50 per week. Pool Heating £120. A welcome pack of essentials for when you arrive can be arranged. eg: fresh food, water, wine, cheese, bread, fresh fruit etc. Complimentary books, toys, maps and DVDs for clients' use. A safe is installed in the villa for security. The villa interior is beautifully maintained, with bright and spotless rooms. The Portuguese ambience has not been lost and has a style of its own. Accessibility
The villa is single storey, the lounge is split level, a car can be brought to the front door for off street parking.
To the west of Albufeira is the Valley of the Grapevines, or Vale da Parra, a tranquil area of low hills, fertile plains and wonderful beaches from intimate coves to the glorious sandy expanse of Praia da Gale. Guia is a delightful little village with narrow cobbled streets, traditional cottages and a famous selection of chicken piri-piri restaurants. Gentle welcoming people.
Outside
Situated overlooking the lovely landscaped private park of Quinta dos Alamos. There is a 7x4m new mosaic heatable swimming pool and sun terracing around the pool. The property is totally enclosed with safe areas at the back and side of the villa for young children to play. At the rear of the villa there is a seating/dining area by the built-in barbecue. The terraces are very well equipped with wide range of garden furniture eg, Stylish outdoor luxury rattan dining furniture for alfresco dining. Lavender blue table and chairs with cushions at the barbecue/ grill area, also 3 sun umbrellas, large cushioned swing seat, 4 very comfortable pool loungers with cushions. The immaculate garden is filled with enchanting birdsong, it is peaceful and relaxing and completely stress free - a little piece of paradise! Roses, vines, lemon tree, pomegranate tree, fig trees. Gate from villa garden to Private Park areas with shrubs and trees and children's safe play parks with swings and slide etc.
Coast/Beach
The villa is 5 minutes drive from bustling Albufeira and several Water/Theme parks. The beaches of Gale (Praia da Gale) and Castello are a 5 minute drive away with excellent stretches of fine sand, panoramic views, beach bars and water sports. Local attractions include Water Slide Parks, Zoo Marine (Aquarium/seals/dolphins) Krazy World (mini golf, reptile and Animal Parks. Zoo - tropical birds, monkeys, water skiing, surfing, swimming, scuba diving and jet ski.

Travel
The villa is only 30 minutes drive from Faro Airport. Car hire is not essential, but recommended. Airport pick ups can be arranged. Local Taxis easily available.
Popular with children are the Algarve's largest fun and theme parks along the EN125 highway. "Zoomarine," "The Big One" and "Slide and Splash" are all within easy reach and more, smaller attractions are planned elsewhere in the area. Further to the west we find what is claimed locally as the largest, sandiest beach in the Algarve.
Distances
The villa is 5 minutes drive from Albufeira. The beaches of Gale (Praia da Gale) and Castello are 5 mins drive away, with excellent stretches of fine sand, panoramic views, beach bars and water sports. Algarve Shopping Mall with Mega Supermarket, cinemas, bowling alley, boutiques, restaurants, a 5 mins drive away. The Salgados Golf Course nearby, with 6000 metre links, replete with water obstacles,a pleasant experience especially for the technically-skilled player.

Several mini markets are a 5 mins walk away to the quaint village. Guia village has two banks, a local pharmacy, paper shop, supermarkets, coffee shop, bakery, butchers, post office, everything you would need in fact. Many good restaurants (15) within 5 mins walk to village. Guia is famous for its restaurants which are good value and high standard. The villa is in an ideal location for golfers and holidaymakers alike.

Guia: The tiny village of Guia is situated just a ten minute drive from bustling Albufeira, the Algarve's most popular and well known resort. Guia is the hub of a thriving villa population which includes Sir Cliff Richard's villa and vineyards. Over the past 30 years, around 20 restaurants have emerged offering anything from the locally discovered chicken piri-piri to two gourmet French restaurants. Nearby is the Zoomarine theme park with lots of attractions especially for the children including the opportunity to swim with the dolphins.
History: This small village is located near the main Highway No.125, only 6km away from Albufeira. The village was established during Roman times and was called Alfontes by the Arabs, meaning beyond the water spring. Guia is one of the county’s three parishes on the Algarve coastline, occupying an area of 27 square km located within the 148 square km of the county’s total area. The village origins are difficult to determine, but oral tradition tells us that the site of the chapel of Nossa Srª da Guia is where the Virgin Mary once appeared. Consequently, the village name has a religious origin relating to the existence of the chapel which was built prior to the 16th century. The vow to Our Lady of Guia is ancient and at one time drew pilgrims from all over the Algarve to make their promises to the Virgin Mary, which according to tradition gave rise to the annual Guia Fair held from 7 - 9 October, in the chapel surroundings.

About the owner
We are a professional couple who live in a beautiful part of Ireland, on the North Antrim Coast, we have three sons and three adorable Grandchildren, Harrison 4 yrs, Savannah 1yr and Truly 2 years. We purchased the charming Portuguese Style villa Casa dos Passarinhos {House of the Birds} in 2007 after holidaying and renting in the same peaceful area of Quinta dos Alamos, for many years. We choose an area suitable for family holidays - we can choose to go to the Tourist hot spots, Albufeira is just 5 minutes away by car or taxi, but we wanted just to get to know a little about the Portuguese way of village life. Also Guia a quaint village has such a lovely pace of life, but still close to the fabulous beaches of Central Algarve. But only 30 minutes from Faro Airport - fabulous.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We fell in love with the Algarve and the gentle Portuguese people over 18 years ago, after exploring the area we decided the village of Guia was perfect for us. Relaxing by the pool in the heat of the day you can, close your eyes and smell the roses in the garden, the Jasmine climbing the wall beside the pool with masses of pretty creamy-yellow flowers to create a fragrance, pervading the summer air with their exquisite perfume. This must be heaven! or the Garden of Eden. If we feel like an ice cold G&T we can choose a large juicy Lemon from the tree, or just make some homemade lemonade - delicious! Breakfast is figs, grapes and pomegranates from the garden, with the hot crusty rolls fresh from the local home bakery.
Star gazing or moon bathing on the terrace after dinner. Wow!
Unique benefits of the property
The villa is within walking distance to the many restaurants and shops in the village, so no need to take the car. Fish - 'catch of the day' always available. Ramires claims to be the first restaurant in the Algarve that served the local very popular dish of "Chicken Piri-Piri". Lota, a restaurant considered by locals as a one of the more interesting restaurants in which to partake of fresh fish and shellfish, Always open! Our villa is In a peaceful and tranquil area with cobbled tree lined streets, away from crowds, but close to Faro Airport only 30 minutes away. We have the benefit of gas central heating for cooler evenings during the Winter months. Also a glass fronted log fire, to cuddle up to and read books or watch TV, play games, just to chill and spend time together.
